Just Another Night | Angus & Candy
Candyās cheeks flushed as Angus stood and asked her to dance. That certainly wasnāt the response she was anticipating. She guessed he would either be offended and ask her to leave, or he would offer his help and then usher her back to the slums where she belonged. Instead, he offered a dance and a chance to extend their night. She took his hand with a small smile, āI would love that.āĀ
The woman followed Angus out to the dance floor and placed an arm on his shoulder as they began moving to the music. āYouāre a wonderful dancer, Mister Fletcher.ā Candy looked up at him, smiling. Being honest was hard, but this she could do. Candy could flatter and make shallow conversation for hours in order to make the man happy, but strangely enough, she sort of liked it. He looked nice with a smile on his face.
Angus smiled at the beautiful woman in his arms. Her hair smelled of Jasmine perfume. Soft and sensual, like she was. Her curves pressed against his body and it made him remember that it had been a while since he's had a woman willing to be this close to him. The last had been Shirley, and well, that had ended spectacularly badly. He'd made the mistake of trying to make something that had been working, their friendship, into a romance.Ā
This was an entirely different matter. "You're a truly exquisite woman, Miss Mae." Angus took a deep breath. "Any man would be a fool if he didn't try and get you into his arms."Ā
Just Another Night | Angus & Candy
Ā "You do," she repeated. "That would be very helpful," Candy regretted that she couldnāt be one hundred percent honest with the man. She took a drink, "truth to tell, I thought you might have some insight into the business side of town, given your attire." Candy smiled bashfully. She felt bad for having such an agenda with Angus, but she had to throw him some sort of information.Ā
Candy leaned forward on the table before taking another drink from her cup. āI hope you donāt think less of me for hoping you could be of some help.ā She met his eyes, seeing if theyād give anything away.
Angus stared into Candy's eyes. She was an incredibly beautiful woman who'd approached him in a bar because of his attire. She'd mentioned that she was looking for money, and mentioned business in a vague sort of way. A flash of recognition came to Angus as a clear answer as to her motivation came to him. Did he want what she might offer him? She certainly seemed to want he might offer her. In truth, he'd come to the bar hoping for companionship. Miss Mae had clearly picked her mark wisely.
Angus stood and offered his hand. "Perhaps we could talk over a dance, Miss Mae?"
In Search of a Friend // Angus & Edie
"Acquaintances arenāt exactly the same as friends though, are they?" Edie challenged. "You canāt expect the same sort of companionship from an acquaintance and thatās what seems to be the issue for you. You can dog around with any old fool, but connections are what bind friendships and thatās what you sound like to be lacking." She wasnāt surprised that the other man hadnāt seen much of her cousin, Edward was practically a ghost these days, avoiding people as much as he could and biting their heads off or completely ignoring them otherwise.Ā
The woman considered the man across from her with a more critical eye now as he revealed his true profession. As silly as it might be, she still associated ādoctorā with a medical man, of the body, not the mind. Now she wondered if her responses were being picked apart the way psychologists tended to do.
"Excuse me, I assumed when you said āDoctorā you meant of the body, not the psyche. Of course it wouldnāt be appropriate to cross that boundary with someone you must have to build trust with in such a manner."
Edie wasnāt entirely certain what else to tell the man until he spoke again and she laughed.Ā
"My goodness! I meant try a new place to eat or go out dancinā!" She crowed with a grin. "But I thoughtā¦well, didnāt you just say that you and your lady friend had grown out of touch? Unless thereās another woman. A handsome man like you has probably got his hands full." She teased.
Angus wasn't a blushing kind of man, but being teased like Edith made him as closed to it as anything. He laughed at her comment about having his hands full.
"I have to admit that my dance card has been rather empty as of late." In fact his 'dance card' had been nonexistent since Shirley. He'd felt so guilty about their ill advised encounter and his relationship with Isla that he hadn't felt that it was right to pursue anything, but he was lonely and had realized that he wanted the companionship of a friend with the feelings of a lover. Ā "And as for the lady who was my friend, well, let's just say that we're no longer in touch."
He glanced at the smiling laughing woman before him. Perhaps she could be the answer to everything he'd been searching for. "I'd be happy to take you out for a night on the town. It would be my pleasure to show my new friend a nice evening on the town."

I think I'm 'bout due. // Woody & Angus
Ā Yā donāt say? I know I feel like that after one, too. I just got so caught up in how nice the hair feels that I couldnāt help bā want tā keep it, pal. Nameās Woody, by the way. Woody Bishop.
Angus Fletcher. You look familiar, Mr Bishop. Have I seen you around somewhere?
Meeting of the Minds // Clarence & Angus
He looked up from his desk covered in paperwork when he heard the knock at his office door. Lillian poked her head in to let him know that Angus was there to see him and the detective nodded, giving her a smile. āThank you, Miss Connolly. Show him in.ā It was becoming somewhat awkward to have to be so formal with her at work when they were so informal at home, but it was the least they could do to keep up the appearance of professionalism.
He stood and offered his hand to the psychiatrist as he stepped into the room. āGood to see you again, Angus. Come in and make yourself comfortable.ā
Angus took Clarence's hand and shook it. "Not at all, I'm glad to help." Angus took off his hat and had a seat in front of the desk. He could see the files piled on Clarence's desk and wondered how much of what the paper's had to say was true.
"So, what do you have for me?"Ā
Spontaneous Session // Angus and Moa
Ā Moa nodded, slowly slipping into the seat once again. Biting on her lower lip, she coughed uncomfortably. āMoney. Right. I haveā¦none. And I have to do some regrettable things to get by.ā
"Nice to meet you, Angus." After another pause, Moa asked, "Do people really feel better after talking to you?"
Angus stifled the urge to laugh at the girl's frankness. "Some of them do, after a time usually. It depends on how complex of a problem they come in with and how much they're invested in the process. Sometimes it can take years, other times in can happen in a session or two. It simply depends on the person."Ā
He glanced at her nearly empty whiskey glass in her hand. Although she seemed very young and very lithe, he sensed that she could probably out drink most of the men of his acquaintance.Ā
He held up his glass in question and she handed it to him he walked back to the side board and poured them each another drink. "So, what about you, does talking to people make you feel better?"
Spontaneous Session // Angus and Eliza
The girl simply nodded, hesitantly shaking the manās hand. Say something, anything, she scolded herself internally as her gaze fell from the therapist toward the floor. The blonde had fallen into a silence for far too long, it was just habit nowāleaving most unable to get a word out of her unless they were in the family.Ā
"IāIām not sureā¦whyā¦Iām hereā¦" the girl whispered, her voice trailing off as she began to realize maybe she shouldnāt be there.Ā
Angus looked at the woman before him. From her tone of voice and her demeanor she seemed as though she might be in some distress.Ā
"Won't you come through Miss Capone? Perhaps we can talk about the reason you're here this evening?"Angus gestured through the doorway behind him, but sensing her reluctant he added. "You friend is more than welcome to accompany you, if you feel it's necessary."
Do We Dare // ANGACE
Angus walked into The Cotton Club and requested a table for two further away from the hustle and bustle than he would have normally liked. The woman who'd greeted him warmly at the door quickly lead him to a booth near the back of the room. Angus sat down and was greeted by an eager waiter who placed two menus neatly on the table. Angus ordered two Manhattan's and the waiter left. Angus looked up to see Miss Holiday standing before him.
He stood up. "I ordered two Manhattan's, I hope that's alright?"

Spontaneous Session // Angus and Moa
Ā Moa happily took the drink, taking a decent-sized swig before holding the glass in her hand, running her thumb over the smooth glass for a few seconds. Then, realizing how nervous it made her look, she stopped and simply gripped the glass tightly.
"Heāsā¦not like me." Moa knew it was a stupid excuse, but it was at least a workable lie. "You know, the accent and everythingā¦Iām Irish. Born and breed, proud of it, all that. And heāsā¦" Moa shrugged, raising her doe-like eyes up at the man. "Italian. And you know how they are."
Suddenly, feeling her gut drop, Moa knew that this was all getting a bit too personal much too fast. āI-I should go,ā she said, starting to rise.
Angus rose and touched her arm reassuringly. "I'm very discreet, I assure you. And anyway this needn't be a formal session, if you're worried about money. I'm happy to just talk new acquaintance to new acquaintance. Don't worry you can trust me."
Angus put his drink on the desk before holding out his hand. "Forgive me, I didn't introduce myself before. I'm Angus Fletcher."

DAY 6 CHALLENGE
Resources and abilities:
Spontaneous Session // Angus and Moa
"Yes, please," the girl eagerly nodded. If she couldnāt get money out of this whole thing, Moa would at least get her hands on some whiskey for her trouble. "Iāll have whatever it is youāre having, if itās no trouble."
Moa kept her posture straight, a little bit stiff-looking as she bit her lip. āItās not anythingā¦it sounds silly, really.ā She desperately wracked her brain for a lieā¦until she landed on a truth. āItās a boy,ā Moa admitted, her cheeks burning red while she hoped the doctor would think it was part of the act.
Angus nodded, going behind the desk and opening the bottom drawer where he kept his Whiskey. The girl before him seemed a bit young, but she was likely an adult. And if she was truly in a crisis, he knew that a drink could calm her nerves.
He walked to the side board where he kept his glass ware and brought up another tumbler and filled it two fingers full. He handed her the glass and he saw her take a sip as though it were water.
He moved to his previous position in front of the desk, leaning against it and took a sip of his own drink. He looked at her stiff posture. The girl appeared to be more nervous than his typical patients. Something wasn't adding up about her appearance in his office.
"Tell me more about this boy. What is he like?"
