Aesthetic Non-negotiables for my Future Wedding
1. the fanciest invitations
I think a good wedding starts with a good invite. I also am a huge stationary lover so anything with pretty paper has me interested. I really love the concept of having the venue painted and getting that as a print for the invites but I'm talking the full nine yards for the invites. Wax seals, pretty envelope colors, calligraphy, embossed paper (I LOVE embossed paper, seriously so chic), everything.
2. LOTS of flowers
Now this isn't saying that I want Cassie from Euphoria level of florals (though peonies are my favorites) but they are so beautiful, and if you can have a lot of them, why not? I like the idea of a new england coastal style with the big hydrangeas, I think that is so classy but also like a bouquet of peonies is so stunning and that with white lilacs??? consider me the happiest future bride
As it is my favorite pattern, and probably one of the most wedding-esc pattern, I want so much lace. I love the look of lace veils but also like it being incorporated into my dress (as if that isn't common), and the invites (had to bring them up again), and the reception decorations, would be so gorgeous.
I think these are becoming a bit more popular but I have been seeing the little initials of the bride embroidered under the grooms collar or the brides garter having their future last name on it and I just think it is such a cute and intimate detail (especially if it is blue embroidery because then it is the 'something blue'). They also make for such cute pictures.
5. Song for the first kiss
Another thing I have been seeing a lot. More specifically, I saw this video of this couple who had a harp player that did this little melody when they were having their first kiss and I WANT THAT SO BAD. However, I have no clue what my finances will be for this wedding that is so far off so I will keep it at music for right now lol. I just think that something sweet playing in the background makes the first kiss as a married couple all the more magical.
I have thought about this a lot. Bridesmaid dresses always feel like the most daunting task when I envision my future wedding because I obviously want bridesmaids but the dress always stumps me. I don't want them to be all different colors and different styles, nor do I want them to be all the same color and the same style. So after lots of Pinterest searching, I finally settled on dresses in the same color but with slightly different styles. Now that sounds like literally nothing I KNOW, but I think that if the styles of the dresses are different (high neck vs. asymmetrical vs. off the shoulder) enough while still being the same color and material, it just looks so nice. It's not too matchy but it's also not super different. Also I think my big no go color for them would be butter yellow cause I think it often photographs too white.
As much as the wedding is exciting, I think what I would really want is to be around my friends and family that make that day even more special. So for that reason I feel like I would at least want to be sat with the wedding party. I just love to be surrounded by lots of people and I feel like the sweethearts table also puts a big spotlight that doesn't need to be there for the WHOLE wedding.
I am a huge gift giver so one thing I absolutely want to incorporate into my future wedding would be giving gift bags out at the end. It might be a bit tacky but I feel that if done well then they can be very sweet. And isn't stealing a table centerpiece at the end more tacky? The other thing is, the gift needs to be something that doesn't scream wedding. I know 99% of people don't want to get a wedding gift that has the bride and grooms face or name plastered on it, that will make a quick trip to the trash or collecting dust somewhere hidden. So, I think something simple but useful is the best option when giving gifts to the guests.
One thing about weather in my area is that it is unpredictable. The weather app could say clear skies and it could be raining. Now is it expensive to book a venue for two days? Yes. But for someone that has always dreamed for a beautiful outdoor wedding, I feel like it is always a good idea for a second chance, and in my opinion, worth the extra money. This is also mostly wishful thinking on my part though for clear skies the next day when the first one was rain, but it happens (sometimes)!
10. Reception outfit change
As a girl who loves to dance and simultaneously wants a very big ball gown for her wedding day, an outfit change is necessary. I love the little white dresses other women will get for their receptions and I think a fun shorter veil for that also adds to the playfulness of a reception that it should have (like hello? the veil look Sabrina pulled during Coachella? Like imagine that but as a dress? I'd kill. Dior make me a custom wedding reception dress?).
