If you're an American with a disability who receives government assistance, you likely qualify for an ABLE account, or you may starting next
The age of eligibility for an ABLE account, allowing USAmerican disabled people to save up money without losing their government assistance for having “too much,” is going to go up to cover disabilities diagnosed by age 46 (currently it’s age 26), meaning a much larger number of people will be able to access them. As the article notes, many Americans don’t know these accounts exist, let alone whether they or someone they care for could qualify for one, so please share this information around.
It seems to me it would obviously be better if the “no more than $2000 a month” limit were simply removed and disabled people could have whatever savings accounts they chose, but this is heaps better than nothing.
Effective as of January 1, 2026, eligibility has expanded to folks whose disabled diagnosis was established prior to turning 46 years old
About ABLE Accounts An ABLE account is a savings and / or investment option for people with disabilities who qualify. It falls under Section

Let's talk about *that* scene when Unalaq takes Raava from Korra
I think I'm the only one in tlok fandom that doesn't think the scene where Unalaq destroy Raava is a SA allegory.
Hear me out.
We already have scenes with strong SA subtext and allegories throughout the whole season 1:
Just look at these "The Voice in the Night" scenes. Tell me it doesn't give you the creeps? A helpless girl, surrounded by ppl (mostly men), forcing her into a submissive position (on her kness with two ppl holding her arms). And with Amon invading her personal space and touching her face, forcing her to look at him
Oh and thats how Tenzin found her and what Korra had to say about this encounter:
Not enough? Look at Tahno before and after having his bending taken away:
Look at Lin Beifong, moments before having her bending taken away.
Korra, scare af but still trying to expose Amon
And this is Korra after Amon took her bending. Oh, and this is even after her defeated him.
What we have from these scenes is that not only the scene presents itself as a visual nod to SA scenes with: the subjugation/submission, the unwanted physical touch, the invasion of a person's body, having someone force something on you and your body. But also a follow-up and an emotional payoff we didn't had in Korra vs Unalaq.
Yes, after Raava was ripped out, Korra was depressed but a little after that she was beating him up, and in b3 she didn't show any feelings or trauma towards it. Aka it had no follow-up, no long term emotional consequence. While in b1, even after defeating Amon, she was suicidal bc that had longer emotional consequence on her.
See the difference? Actually, here we have the difference between something that was prob done purposely and something done by accident. One was present during the whole season and had longer emotional consequences and payoff, the other hadn't.
You can argue that s2 Korra kind of forgot about this but I would argue different bc she was too irritated, too on edge, too emotional for "no reason". Tbh I dont think it was intentional, or maybe intentionally as consequense of her last encounter with Amon bc s1 was suposed to be a stand alone, and thats why it feels so disconnected with the rest of the show bla bla bla, but still it leaves room for this interpretation: She was unbearable in the beginning of s2 bc she was desperately trying to gain the agency Amon took from her, she was still emotionally messed up by that encounter. Being "unbearable" is also a symptom of depression and trauma
This would explain the "don't tell me what to do" attitude. She wanted to be, to feel in control.
And before you say im putting double standarts, in s3 Korra is just fine. Literally nothing happens so we didn't even has something to interpretate. Sure, if you stretch you can say she was in denial or smt but she was just too fine during the whole s3 not one single slip that could vote for this.
Also, it would be a huge irresponsibility to do that on purpose and not make Korra's PTSD arc about that. An uncle emotionally manipulating his niece and a scene with SA allegories? That's not something you pretend it didn't happen. So, narratively speaking, if that was done by purpose, it would have to have a follow-up.
Personally, I see them as an example of emotional manipulation and not SA allegory. I can see why ppl have those interpretations bc the visuals are strong but in the end there's all that is: visuals. Writing wise, we have nothing even suggesting that. And in storytelling we need more than just visuals to make it right and actual powerfull. Thats also the reason why the majority of the fandom still sees the equalist as communist. Because they focus only on the visuals and ignore what the writing is telling us.
Something I genuinely wish was explored more in the ATLA universe/fandom is how Katara is the last waterbender of the Southern Tribe. Like, I understand why it's not spoken about as much as Aang being the last airbender, because he is simply the only airbender left. But Katara is the last link in her entire tribes history of bending.
Sure, the Northern Tribe might have benders, but they have such a different culture/identity around bending compared to the South. We see in Hama's flashbacks that the Southern Tribe had male and female benders at the helm, fighting equally, learning the same things, sharing the same tactics. They weren't left behind as strictly healers or defenseless women given a man's gift, they were strong.
And the thing that separates Katara and Aang's stories being the last benders of their nations is that Aang remembers what it means to be an Air Nomad. There are obviously blind spots because of how young he was, but Aang knows the customs and the culture and spiritual practices. He was able to pass those down to Tenzin and his grandchildren, he was able to start the process of rebuilding what was lost.
But Katara? She was even younger than Aang was when the Southern waterbenders were eradicated. There are Southern practices that are most definetly just... a fractured part of history because she never got to experience them. There are ways of hunting, of building, of navigating the waters, ways of healing, probably even spiritbending, that are simply lost to time.
And maybe her grandmother can clue her into it, memories from a nonbender living aside benders, but it's not the same. She didn't get to hear it from the waterbenders, she didn't get to learn from a Southern waterbender, she doesn't even know what to rebuild because it was never something she was versed in.
That's why The Puppet Master is such a heartbreaking episode. Because Hama could have been the Southern teacher Katara clearly wanted, she could have shown her more, but ended up passing on her legacy of Bloodbending. And on the inverse, I can't even fully call Hama a villain for wanting Katara to know how to bloodbend, because the ache of thinking you were the only one left for so long, the rage against a Nation known for destroying nations, would've driven anyone insane.
We know that Tenzin felt an intense pressure to keep rebuilding Air Nomad culture, but I'm so convinced that Kya probably felt something similar with Southern waterbending.

I cackled
Okay I've just finished season two of Legend of Korra, and why do so many people say it was Korra who severed the link between her and her past lives and hate on her for it, when it very clearly wasn't her fault??? It was UnaVaatu???
The hate towards Korra is so forced, it almost seems like it's actually just based on misogyny.
