i’ve been seeing video essays and over complicated tutorials of haircare for quite some time now, and i’ve noticed that everyone is doing something different and spouting opposing opinions to the next person. i’ve had long healthy hair my whole life and it’s very easy to maintain so i thought i’d be helpful and make a blog about it. <3
Hair washing routine for long, healthy hair!!!
keep in mind, i am 99% white, i have pin straight, fine, thick, tailbone length hair. this is all my own knowledge, this probably wont work for many other hair types.
wash when your hair gets greasy. there’s nothing more to it, i promise.
𑣲find and experiment or research product that will work for your hair
𑣲gently detangle your hair before showering
(use a reasonable water temperature)
𑣲one clarifying shampoo, only apply to the roots of your hair. it won’t froth up with bubbles if your hair is dirty, which is why we have the second shampoo.
𑣲once you’ve washed out the previous shampoo, apply another few pumps of regular shampoo and this time it should foam up. make sure to really massage and get in there so your scalp is clean.
𑣲hopefully your hair is clean now, this is where you would use a hair mask if need be.
𑣲conditioner! yay! use less then a tablespoon. i’m warning you. i guarantee you don’t have enough hair for more than that. wring out your hair and lather the shampoo to your lengths and ends only.
𑣲dry your hair with microfibre towels, i like to air dry but if you need to use heat, use a heat protectant and be careful.
this is stuff to do on the regular, when your hair is dry.
𑣲get a light hair oil for the ends of your hair, apply it daily for soft ends.
𑣲get trims when your ends are dry and brittle, not every three months, not once a decade, but when your hair needs it.
𑣲spit ends can’t be ‘sealed’ cut them.
𑣲your hair grows half an inch per month. period. there’s nothing you can do to make your hair grow faster, be patient.
𑣲rice, rosemary, or chamomile hair rinses are nice and hydrating, try it
𑣲get a heavier oil for your roots the day before washing it, my mother did this to me growing up. massage it gooood get the blood flow pumping.
𑣲the main thing causing damage to to your hair without a doubt is friction. you can’t get splits without friction. stop sleeping on your hair, lying on it, leaving it out to rub against things.
𑣲avoid hair-ties as much as you can. friction, again. use clips, banana clips, claw clips, mini claw clips. there’s so much you can do without hair-ties.
i think that’s about it. just be kind to your hair, it’s a very spiritual thing for me and we’re i’m from, an extension of you.
if i have anymore i remember i will edit this post, promise!
