the flour incident
caitvi x reader, jinx & reader
age regression, little!reader, little!jinx, fem reader, brief punishment scene, sfw, fluff (3k)
You hug your stuffed alpaca named Snowcone to your chest, nuzzling your face into the soft fur. The feeling of the plushie’s fur against your skin helps ground you a little bit, your heart rate slowing down slightly.
Vi sits down on the couch next you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you tight against her side. “You nervous, sweetheart?” she asks, kissing the top of your hair. “You’re squeezing Snowcone so tight his eyes might pop out.”
You nod, then relax your grip on your stuffie to check that Snowcone’s eyes aren’t actually popping out, even though you’re pretty sure Vi is kidding.
“It’s perfectly normal to be a little nervous before a playdate,” Caitlyn says calmly, sitting down on your other side. She tips your face up, and kisses your forehead, her lips soft and gentle against your skin. “But you have absolutely nothing to worry about, my darling girl. I’m sure you and Jinx will have a wonderful time.”
“Yeah, there’s no pressure, hon,” Vi chimes in, rubbing your back. “You guys can just color together or watch cartoons, if you don’t feel up to playing together. It’s whatever you want, okay? There’s no right or wrong here.”
You look up at her with big eyes. “But what if I don’t know what to say? Or what if she wants to play a game I don’t know how to play? Or if I mess up and do something weird and then she never wants to play with me ever again and I never have any Little friends because I’m bad at having friends?”
The last question comes out in one big rush, your words tumbling together. Vi’s expression softens, and she slows her circles on your back to long, soothing strokes. “Shh, baby girl. Big breath for Mama, okay?”
She takes an exaggerated breath in and you follow, the both of you blowing out air in tandem. Vi smiles encouragingly at you and instructs you to do it again. After a few rounds of slow breathing, you start to feel calmer, the anxiety loosening its grip around your chest.
Caitlyn kisses your forehead again. “Those are a lot of very big worries for such a small little girl,” she coos sympathetically, her sapphire eyes tender as she holds your gaze. “But your mommies are going to be here the whole time, darling. You’re being such a brave girl by having a playdate with a new friend, even though it makes you anxious. How about we choose some activities for you and Jinx to do, to get your mind off things, hmm?”
Caitlyn strokes your hair softly, and Vi gives you an encouraging smile. “Jinx loves board games,” Vi says gently. “Wanna pick some out so you have options? Maybe we could go get some more stuffies in case you need extra players.”
You nod tentatively. Vi holds out her hand, and you slip your hand in hers, letting her tug you up. The two of you head to the activity shelf in the corner of the living room that holds your games and toys, and you start picking out some things you might want to play with.
Your mind drifts away from your anxiety as you and Vi set things up. You end up picking out Candyland and Chutes and Ladders as board game options, and you also get out your coloring supplies. Caitlyn brings a few more of your favorite stuffed animals downstairs and you happily line them up on the couch, grinning at how cute they look together.
But when the doorbell suddenly rings, the loud sound startles you and sends your heart pounding all over again.
You grab Snowcone, holding him tight to your chest, and scramble to hide behind your mommy. Vi chuckles softly, tousling your hair. “It’s okay, sweetheart, that’s just Jinx. I’ll get it.”
While Vi heads to the door, you cling to Caitlyn’s arm, tucking most of your body away behind hers. Caitlyn turns to look at you, her expression soft. “It’s alright to be nervous, love. Let’s just do some introductions.”
Jinx bounds into the house as soon as Vi opens the door. Peeking out from behind Caitlyn, you can see that Jinx has bright blue hair divided into two long braids, and is wearing a pair of rainbow leggings that definitely do not match her neon green hoodie, which is covered in a turtle pattern. But you like the brightness of it all, and you bite down on a small smile.
“Hi hi, I’m sooo excited, I brought ten coloring books, can you believe I even fit them all in here? Daddy helped me pack,” Jinx says in an excited rush, holding up a backpack that’s shaped like a shark.
“That’s pretty impressive, kiddo,” Vi chuckles. “I’ve got her, thanks Ekko!” she calls to someone in a car on the street. It must be Jinx’s daddy.
Before you can blink, Jinx is at your side, holding out a hand. “Hii I’m Jinx! Nice to meet ya!”
You bury your face in Caitlyn’s shoulder and shrink back, squeaking softly.
“Someone’s feeling a little shy,” Caitlyn explains gently, and you’re thankful that your mommy sounds understanding, not annoyed. “How about we get started with some coloring, hm? And we’ll put on a cartoon as well, so you all can have something familiar on. You like Bluey, right Jinx?”
“I love Bluey!” Jinx exclaims, bouncing on her toes. “It’s okay to be shy,” she says, plopping down on the floor and unzipping her backpack. “I talk a lot so it’s okay if you don’t. I’m just happy to have a little friend to play with! I like playing with Daddy but he gets boring sometimes. And Bubba never lets me do anything fun.”
Vi raises an eyebrow and shakes her head with a laugh. “I let you do plenty of fun things, bug. I just don’t let you injure yourself. Or set the house on fire.”
“Pshh, that was one time,” Jinx waves a dismissive hand, setting an enormous box of crayons on the coffee table. “It was barely even a fire.”
“Yes, well, we will be having zero fires today, thank you,” Caitlyn says, gently guiding you over to where Jinx is. She sits down on the floor cross-legged and opens her arms. “Want to come sit in Mommy’s lap and color, my darling?”
You bite your lip, hesitating. But Jinx doesn’t seem so scary now that she’s scribbling away in a Ninja Turtles themed coloring book, and Vi has already turned on Bluey. So you inch over and sit down in Caitlyn’s lap, letting her wrap her warm arms around you. You feel immediately comforted and relax back into her.
Soon, you and Jinx are sharing crayons, and you’ve colored half of a page out of your Winnie-the-Pooh book. You shyly peek over at Jinx’s coloring, eyes widening when you take in the rainbow of neon colors filling her page.
“I like your clouds,” you say quietly, pointing toward the bright pink clouds Jinx has added to the page.
Jinx turns to you, grinning. “Thanks! I like your coloring too! Tigger looks really good.”
That makes you smile and you return to your coloring, feeling a little less shy now. Caitlyn rubs your back encouragingly, pressing a kiss to the top of your hair.
After coloring, your mamas suggest a game of Candyland. You and Jinx set it up together, giggling when you decide to use some of your ponies as players, instead of the little plastic figures that come with the game. Jinx makes neighing noises every time she moves her bright blue pony, which makes you crack up every time, and soon the game has devolved into a pony adventure instead of the board game you’re supposed to be playing.
When you look up at Caitlyn and Vi, they’re both watching you with matching fond smiles on their faces, which makes your chest feel all mushy and happy.
Caitlyn smooths a hand over your hair, then stands. “I think I’ll go put a load of laundry in. You can supervise, Vi?”
Vi nods with a grin. “I can handle the monsters, go ahead, cupcake.” Caitlyn smiles and heads out of the room.
“Mamaaa, we’re not monsters!” you complain, although you’re grinning.
Vi raises an eyebrow. “Oh, you aren’t? Then you better watch out for…the tickle monster!!”
Both you and Jinx squeal and try to escape but Vi catches one of you in each arm and proceeds to tickle you relentlessly. You shriek and giggle, squirming in your mama’s arms, Jinx doing the same. The living room is filled with the sounds of squealing and Vi’s playful growling, until she finally relents and lets you two free. Both you and Jinx are giggling hard, and there’s a bright smile on Vi’s face.
“That’s mean, Mama,” you pout, crossing your arms and giving her as stern a look as you can manage.
“Yeah!” Jinx chimes in, grinning. “You owe us now, Bubba.”
“Uh oh, the littles are mad,” Vi smirks, holding up her hands in mock defeat. “How can I pay for my crimes? Please tell me.”
You and Jinx share a look, then simultaneously exclaim, “Snacks!!”.
Vi chuckles, running a hand through her messy hair. “Of course, snacks. I think that’s a fair payment. Let’s get this cleaned up, then we’ll have a snack in the kitchen, ‘kay?”
Motivated by the promise of snacks, you and Jinx clean up quickly and then follow Vi into the kitchen. She gets you both settled at the kitchen table, then starts looking through the cabinets.
“How’s cheese and crackers sound, little ones?” Vi asks, holding up a box of Ritz crackers. “With some fruit on the side.”
“Yummy, Mama!” you smile, clapping your hands, and Jinx nods her enthusiasm as well.
Vi has just pulled out the cheese from the fridge when Caitlyn suddenly appears in the doorway, a harried look on her face.
“Vi, the washing machine –” she says quickly, panting slightly. “It’s making this horrid noise and there are bubbles everywhere. Can you come take a look?”
“Ooh sounds like fun!” Jinx exclaims, sitting up straighter. “Can we come too?”
“No.” Caitlyn and Vi answer simultaneously.
Jinx and you pout at each other. “They’re no fun,” Jinx whispers to you conspiratorally, and you giggle with a nod.
Vi puts down the cheese, dusting her hands off on her pants. She turns and gives you and Jinx a stern look. “You two, wait for me. I’ll make your snack when I get back. No cooking.” Then she turns and hurriedly follows Caitlyn toward the laundry room.
You and Jinx exchange another look. “I’m hungry,” Jinx announces, hopping off her chair and heading toward the fridge. “I bet Bubba won’t mind if we just grab something in the meantime.”
“I don’t know…” you bite your lip, warily watching Jinx pull a package of grapes out of the fridge and nearly drop it. “She told us to wait for her.”
“She said no cooking,” Jinx drawls, popping a grape into her mouth. “This isn’t cooking. It’s eating.”
You slip out of your chair, coming over to Jinx. She does have a point…sort of. You eat a grape too, and Jinx grins at you.
You’re not exactly sure when the flour gets involved. All you know is, one second you and Jinx are trading grapes, and then before you know it, there’s flour all over the floor, eggs dripping off the counters, and chocolate syrup in your hair.
“It’s like snow!” Jinx yells, throwing a handful of flour in the air and spinning in a circle as it floats down all around her.
“I’m making a snow angel!” you giggle, laying flat on the tile floor and wiggling your arms and legs. “Look, did I do it?”
“Yeah, you did!” Jinx gives you a high five, bouncing on her toes. “Maybe we should go get some glitter, then it could be glitter snow.”
Your eyes go wide. “Ooh good idea! I have pink and blue and –”
“What. Is. Happening.”
Oh no. You swallow hard. You’ve never heard Vi’s voice sound like that before.
You turn around slowly.
Vi’s standing in the doorway, her arms crossed firmly across her chest, her mouth a thin, tight line. You can’t immediately tell if she’s more shocked or angry, her eyes wide as she takes in the veritable disaster that the kitchen has become.
“I told you,” Vi says through gritted teeth, her tone deadly calm. “To wait. For me. What the hell did you two do?”
Yeah, you’re gonna go with angry.
“We were just going to make brownie batter, Bubba,” Jinx says, her manic energy dimming slightly at the thunderous look on Vi’s face. “Not cook it, like you said.”
“The flour was heavy and it spilled,” you chime in, biting your lip. “We’re real sorry, Mama.”
Vi lets out a long, deep sigh and pinches the bridge of her nose, shaking her head. “Cait!” she hollers over her shoulder. “I need your help!”
Caitlyn appears quickly, then shudders to a halt as she takes in the scene. Her gaze flicks from the egg-covered counters, to the flour all over the floor, then to the goo that you and Jinx are currently covered in from head to toe.
“Time out,” Caitlyn says crisply, pointing to the living room. “Both of you. Right now.”
“But Mommy –” you start to complain, pouting, but she cuts you off.
“I don’t want to hear it,” Caitlyn says firmly, holding up a hand. Her tone is sharp, her eyes even more so. “Time out. Now.” She points, waiting for you and Jinx to move.
Sheepishly, you and Jinx shuffle out of the kitchen and into the living room. You stand in the middle of the room, neither of you saying anything. Caitlyn follows and directs the two of you to sit down at opposite ends of the room.
“Five minutes,” Caitlyn says firmly, setting a timer on her phone. “No whining, no moving, or we start it again. You’ll sit there and think about what you’ve done.”
You pout and cross your arms, giving a huff. But when Caitlyn gives you a sharp warning look, you look down, quieting. She’s clearly not in a mood to mess around.
The five minutes seem to take forever, especially with nothing to do to help pass the time. You can hear Vi moving around in the kitchen, cleaning up, but Caitlyn stays seated on the couch, watching you and Jinx with eagle eyes. When the timer on her phone goes off, your shoulders drop an inch with relief.
Caitlyn beckons you and Jinx over to the couch and the two of you sit down on either side of her.
“Now,” Caitlyn says calmly, folding her hands in her lap. “Why did I put you in time out, little ones?” She looks at you and Jinx.
“Because we made a mess,” you mumble, looking down at your toes. “‘n didn’t listen to Mama.”
“That’s correct,” she nods. She turns to Jinx. “And what should you have done instead?”
“Waited for Bubba to make us food,” Jinx sighs, twirling a bracelet on her wrist.
“Mhm,” Caitlyn hums, nodding again. “Vi and I are in charge. That means when we give you a rule, we expect it to be followed.”
“I’m sorry, Mommy,” you say, your voice going wobbly now. You blink hard, your eyes burning. You hate it when your mommy is upset with you. “We’ll listen next time, promise.”
Caitlyn’s expression softens slightly, and she reaches for a tissue from the box on the table. She blots away the tears off your cheeks, then kisses the top of your hair.
“I know you’re sorry, darling,” Caitlyn says, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. “But it’s Vi you need to apologize to, not me. Then you can help clean up, and all will be forgiven, alright?”
You nod, sniffling a little. Caitlyn tucks your hand in hers and leads you and Jinx back into the kitchen. When you spot Vi, in the middle of wrestling with the mop, you and Jinx throw yourselves at her almost simultaneously.
“I’m sorry Mama!” you exclaim, burying your face in her shoulder.
“I was bad and it was my idea,” Jinx blubbers, clinging to Vi’s waist. “I’m sorry, Bubba.”
You can feel Vi’s tense muscles relaxing underneath you, and she sets the mop aside so that she can wrap both of you up in your arms. She plants matching kisses on the top of your heads.
“I forgive you, both of you,” Vi says, rubbing your back. “Mistakes happen. Just promise to listen to what I say next time, okay?”
You look up, your cheeks wet with tears again. “I promise Mama.”
Vi smiles softly at you, wiping away your tears with her thumbs. “That’s my good girl,” she murmurs, kissing your forehead, then Jinx’s. “Okay. You two are gonna help clean up this big mess.”
It turns out that cleaning up flour is a lot less fun than throwing it everywhere, but it goes by fast with all four of you working together. By the time the kitchen is cleaned up, it’s time for Jinx to go home.
“I had a lot of fun playing with you!” Jinx says, giving you a tight hug. “Even if we got in trouble.”
“Me too,” you say. “Maybe you could come back and play another time?” you ask, a little shy.
“Yeah, that would be awesome!” Jinx nods vigorously. “I’ll bring my dinosaur figures next time and we can play Jurassic Park.”
“Sounds cool!” You grin and clap your hands together. “And I can show you my Play-Doh next time too.”
“You two have a lot of fun things to do together,” Vi smiles, throwing Jinx’s shark backpack over her shoulder. “But right now I need to drive J home before dinner time. You guys can play again soon, promise.”
Vi walks Jinx out to the car, and you settle on the couch in Caitlyn’s lap. She wraps her arms around you, holding you close and brushing her nose through your hair.
“Did you have fun today, little love?” Caitlyn asks, smoothing a hand down your side.
You break into a big smile, looking up at her. “I really did, Mommy. I think…I think I made a new friend.”
She beams back at you, her blue eyes sparkling with love. “I’m so proud of you, my darling.” She kisses your cheek then stands, offering out a hand. “Now let’s get you in the bath. You are quite sticky.”
You follow your mommy off to the bathroom with your hand wrapped warmly in hers.
She lets her little one help her when she works from home and her baby needs more attention. She separates out all the heavy case files and only looks over simple one and marks some with little stars that she’ll have her little try to point out to her. The little one has to point out the ones with stars because they’re the important ones.
She smiles softly watching her baby keep their eyes glued to the papers as they shuffle through, gasping and quickly handing those deemed urgent to Caitlyn.
“Thank you for being Mummy’s little helper today,” she coos every time once they’re done. She rewards their efforts with a flurry of kisses to her baby’s cheeks, nose, and forehead until they’re giggling joyfully.
