So many people are letting GenAI think for them at this point. It's sad. Like people can't do ANYTHING without asking GenAI. That was fast, right? Like... the time jump from GenAI becoming mainstream popular to people just not thinking for themselves anymore was SHORT, right? I saw a reddit post where someone was asking if they should go to the ER, ChatGPT said it wasn't that bad yet, but their hand is swelling up. LIKE GO. TO. THE. ER. Listen, I saw the thing where ChatGPT couldn't count how many 'r's are in the word Strawberry, and let me tell you, I ain't letting something that can't count letters tell me when it's time to go to the ER. It is not intelligence. It is a PROGRAM, guys. A program.
People think all these AI programs are like the AI programs in SciFi and they aren’t. Those are Absolute AIs. Those can make logically sound decisions and think for themselves with zero background input. What we have now are Predictive AIs. Very basically, they’re good at making a decision based on old data, but if the data is corrupted somehow (which data often does do), it can’t tell that the data is corrupted and it spits out a decision. What I am trying to say is that a four-year-old is better at determining that data has been corrupted than current AI models.

FML… Asperger’s is literally a Nazi term. They were separating those Autistic people who were “useful” to the Nazis in work camps and those who weren’t and would be experimented on and eventually eradicated under Aktion T4. We should not want to bring back Nazi terms because some people have internalized ableism and don’t feel comfortable with being labeled as Disabled.

I honestly don’t view Steve as much of a disaster, he’s just putting himself between danger and the kids which causes disaster (tell me honestly that Steve would’ve gone into half of those situations without the kids insisting on going so that Steve has to follow along)

Assisted dying supporter: “if they start using it for eugenics i would speak up”
Then why ain’t you speaking up about the DNR scandal, the cruel sen reform, the welfare cuts to the extremely disabled or the fact a Tory politican tried to justify Sen kids killing themselves
As someone who is significantly Disabled, I’m starting to get annoyed that, when significantly Disabled people note they’re being segregated from a conversation or our history gets erased entirely from something that someone else chimes in with “I have ADHD/autism and it’s fine. Sit down and shut up. We’re talking about something else.” It’s not centering yourself to point out a flaw in the structure of conversation.
All disabilities are valid and welcome under the Disability umbrella, but if the only time you bring up that disability is to weaponize it against other Disabled people, you have significant internalized ableism to unpack.
If we’re talking about Disabled American history and you don’t have a Disability that would cause you to be subjected to a eugenics board, targeted by the Ugly Laws, or denied the right to vote (wasn’t guaranteed for certain types of Disabled people until 1984), stop speaking over Disabled people who were victims of those things or would’ve been.
This week on CripTax adventures… when you have after-market hand controls and the vehicle computer, sometimes you take the car to the service center only to find out that you have to take it to the hand control place. So you spend about $600 to just discover you have to take it elsewhere and spend more money.
My WIFE (ao3) has been SHOT (is down for maintenance) and is DEAD FOREVER (probably will be back up in a few hours)
what companies who sell you anti aging stuff don't want you to know is that if you're chill about aging, your perception of attractiveness changes as you get older. there is no "wall" where you suddenly become ugly and unfuckable because in my experience what actually happens is you get into your thirties and suddenly realize that people in their thirties are hot as fuck and the "flaws" that the beauty industry wants you to panic about are a feature not a bug, and based on the std statistics in nursing homes I don't really expect that trajectory to change.
Take it from someone who thought there was a 95% chance they’d be dead or dying by 20 (crippling back pain by 14 was in every part of my body by 18)… there is a lot of beauty in aging. Every wrinkle and every gray hair is a thousand experiences that you’ve had that you wouldn’t have experienced if you’d died young.
A thousand joys and a thousand tragedies. A thousand sunrises and a thousand sunsets. And that is more beautiful than any serum on the market.

SORRY BUT YOUR PASSWORD MUST CONTAIN ONE NUMBER, ONE CAPITAL LETTER, THE COW AS WHITE AS MILK, THE CAPE AS RED AS BLOOD, THE HAIR AS YELLOW AS CORN, AND THE SLIPPER AS PURE AS GOLD
Since it’s getting near New Year’s, remember that the New York Times publishes the top 10 most common passwords near New Year’s. As an IT professional I always recommend checking the list and changing any of your passwords that are listed. And SO HELP ME GOD if you use “Password1!” as your password, I’m coming for you.
Pain free days feels like a lie invented by the media
There's NO WAY everyone else just feels fine 99% of the time...no headaches, no leg pain, no hand cramps, no nausea
SCAM
Not to sound too “woe is me” but I’ve literally forgotten what it’s like to be conscious without pain. Enjoy them while they last.
Edit: changed why to while. I’ve had a glass of wine or two and it’s late. Apologies.
For the record, this is wrong. I’ve known Baby Boomers who’ve maintained online friendships via fandom listservs since the late 60s (Star Trek, specifically).
Bad argument against the "But disabled people need AI" people: "I know a quadriplegic man who paints with a brush in his mouth and a deafblind person who became a Harvard lawyer, disabled people can do anything if they put the effort in."
Good argument against the "But disabled people need AI" people: "Yes, depending on their disability, disabled people may not be able to do many things including something as simple as writing an email because disabilities are, shockingly, disabling. But AI is a plagiarising unthinking machine that churns out standard issue slop and pollutes and exploits impoverished communities which disabled people are disproportionately likely to be a part of. Saying struggling disabled people should just use AI only highlights how few resources disabled people actually have at their disposal and how shitty the few tools they have are. Disabled people should have fully accessible and assisted lives that empower them to do as much as possible. They should have carers and support networks to help them, not shitass nothing machines.

How it feels to be queer & disabled:
Anyone ever wonder if the people who work for Marvel thought CA:CW would have split the fandom the way that it has? Because I really miss the days of Domestic Avengers…
