Just another Tales From 85 rant…so if TF85 is canon and sequentially correct then why doesn’t El have a dnd binder on the shelf or anywhere for that matter? They make it explicitly clear that unbeknownst to us in the og show, she apparently joined the party and got her own figurine in 85.
El and Nikki are fully involved members of the TG85 finale campaign they play in Nikki’s garage. They even made a big deal of giving Nikki her figurine and officially inviting her into the party so this tells me El had already gone through that process sometime before this.
Max starts playing much later and could only have gotten a binder during the ST5 finale epilogue because in S4 Dustin refers to her as the girl who keeps refusing to play dnd with them when he’s introducing her to Eddie. Between then and the events leading up to the epilogue Max is in a coma. And earlier in S4 when Dustin’s trying to convince her to play he’s explaining the basics of how the game works so it’s clear she’s never actually played. And yet even if she’s only been actually joining their campaigns for significantly less time (she wanted to watch wrestling in Nikki’s garage instead of playing) her binder is very prominently lined up on the shelf of doom.
So someone tell me, if TF85 events fold into the show between S2-S3 and are actually real, where is El’s binder on Mikes shelf?? Why wasn’t he caressing it and sobbing? And better yet, why is she sitting on a rooftop asking him how campaigns end when she herself has played? And don’t even say she might have only played once because Hopper tells her on the roof of the cabin he is specifically extending her curfew so that she can play dnd.
