Do you guys ever think about how in S1 Mike and El only know each other for about 6 days?
And in S2 they spend a grand total of 3 days together (although this is offscreen and I’m making assumptions here. She comes back and there’s 2 days before the gate closes which they could have also spent apart so it’s possible it’s even less, who knows.) And 1 evening at the Snowball so I’m gonna be generous and count this as another day.
So by the time the Snowball happens they’ve actually spent around 8-9 days of their life together and at a whopping 12 years old this is the moment audiences insist they are locked in a grand romance that will last them a lifetime.
The next season is immediately followed by conflict, lies, spying, stalking, whining (on mikes part) and complete indifference (on Els part yas girl enjoy your ice cream and your new bestie).
Then onto a long distance relationship across state lines full of even more lies, full blown gaslighting, triggering ptsd episodes, and failed communication (or in Mikes case, zero attempt at communication since he says casually that meh she’s still not talking to him after his plagiarized stilted confession he yelled in her face aw well what can ya do and then proceeds to hang out with his friend on the sofa.)
