(I don't want to start any ship war I just want to share my silly heartbroken headcanon about them)

when they were kids tsubasa always had great admiration towards wakabayashi, that inevitably turned into love, but he only realized when he felt the missing of wakabayashi (when he went away to Germany) and so he started focusing on his career to cope how he felt "abandoned"

wakabayashi on the other hand always focused on his career, he still loved his best friend, but in a more friendly teammate way, he only realized his true feelings when he saw him again during the world cup, sure in Germany he always admired his progress but in that moment they met again, he realized how much he missed his company and how he truly felt.

misaki is a whole different situation, he loved tsubasa since the very first moment, it was never just admiration it was always love, but tsubasa never saw him as more than a friend, misaki missed tsubasa to death when he went away to france, but tsubasa was too heartbroken from the sudden goodbye from wakabayashi (and the whole Roberto Brasile stuff obviously) that he didn't even thought about misaki THAT way, there were feelings deep down him too, but he just never acknowledge them, maybe a bit in France when he realised how much he had missed misaki, but he never truly felt the way misaki always had felt for him
