“I would never destroy such a precious gift. Your heart to me is worth more than all the gifts you could ever give and all the jewels in the kingdom.” Anne leaned over slightly, kissing his forehead with reverence.
“My love for you is never ceasing. You plague my thoughts at all hours of the day. I have prayed many times that God cures me of the ailment that you afflict me with. You fill my senses and bewitch my soul.” Anne’s dark eyes stared into his own, her slender hand coming to caress his cheek.
“To live without your love would be worse pains than that of hell.I crave your presence like cold skin craves the warmth of the sun. You start a fire in my soul that I cannot dampen. I am your humble servant, always.” Anne leaned over, pressing her lips to his tenderly, particularly careful of his leg.
he had not given his trust over so quickly, and felt such words could not be accepted just yet. she was too eager to promise things, too quick to profess her love and he was not ready to allow it.
he was more than aware of how tenderly she treated him, how she avoided his pained leg. he wound his arms around her, holding her close as they kissed. his nose nuzzled against hers, before he sighed softly. “perhaps with dispensation from the archbishop... all dark sins and accusations will be washed away. perhaps then god will grant us what we have wanted most.” a new beginning. a fresh start. had christ not died for their sins and allowed them all to be saved anew from such sacrifice? had they both not given great sacrifice now?
“no more words. i want silence, so i can appreciate what i missed most when i felt you in my arms, my wife.”
