So, the other day, I asked my fellow SSHGers to give me their favorite fics.

I did NOT expect it to get the traction that is has gotten, so thank you all for that.

On ANOTHER post, @slytheringsnape told me I should make a master list of MY favorite fics, and you know what? I’m going to do just that. I only regret that one of my favorite sites that I was reading in the late 2000′s, Granger Enchanted, is no longer up and running, because this would have been A LOT longer had it still been active (pour one our for Granger Enchanted, y’all). 

So, without further ado, and in no particular order (expect for my all-time fave, which I’m saving for that for last :)  I will also inclue some fave authors, since it would be hard to choose just one of their fics. 

(There is one fic I want to include desperately, but it has been abandoned and it hurts me not to put it on here, but I can’t in good conscience rec it for you guys due to that reasoning)

Ok, enough boring chit-chat. Time for the goods. 

The Gilded Cage by ApollinaV (ff.net)  Clever Miss Hermione Granger believes that by marrying Azkaban prisoner 11652 she can effectively skirt the new Ministry Marriage Law requirements. (It’s 60+ chapters of enemies to friends angst and I love it). 

Liminal by Cybrokat (Ashwinder)  He was learning much about her, much more than he ever thought he would comfortably know of anyone, through the music she shared with him. (Music junkies will LOVE this tale of a broken man who seeks comfort in his student’s music). 

Denial by little beloved (Ashwinder). (There is no real summary, but I’ll try an summarize. Marriage Law. After the war, Hermione and friends go through this match-making class in in order pair them with someone whom they could repopulate the wizarding world. Hermione gets paired, but afterwards, it’s not all it seems. And why is she lusting after another married man? It’s good, trust me.)

Lay Me Low by Teddy Radiator (Ao3, Ashwinder, Petulant Poetess)  The past and the present mesh together in a story of protection, betrayal and trust. (Trigger warning for attempted assault in the first few chapters, but this is about Sev coming to Hermione’s aide and the relationship that develops). 

Transcendent Quality of Remembrance by Subversa (Ashwinder)  In a postwar world, members of the Order and the DA are sent together into hiding. Trapped in claustrophobic circumstances, plagued by inexplicable dreams, surrounded by her closest friends - and her most dreaded adversary - Hermione struggles to come to terms with her postwar life. (Enemies to friends to lovers goodness and it’s long to boot). 

Out of the Depths by laurielove (Ashwinder, PP)  A tale of emotional and erotic dependency. A nineteen-year-old Hermione is back at Hogwarts and finds herself at odds with student life. And her bewildering new feelings for her Potions Master confuse her even more. (I have read this fic more times than I can count over 10+ years. It is EASILY in my top 5 all time). 

Correspondence by belle4life (PP)  A mystery admirer begins a correspondence with Hermione. When she learns who it is, they develop a friendship, which morphs into something more than that. (Here’s one thing to know about me: I’m a slut for any kind of correspondence in fics: letters, texts, emails, etc. This gives me that, plus the Secret Admirer thing is just too cute)

Luring the Enchantress by Souhern_Witch_69 (PP)  Slytherin tactics are used by Severus to lure Hermione to his lair. This will be a story of deliberate seduction. Whose side is Severus on anyway? (Set during the lead-up to final battle. I just love the back and forth of who’s side Sev really is on, but it becomes clear that it has always been hers. A little darker than most of these on here). 

The Succubus by Southern_Witch_69 (PP)   Snape starts having nightly visits from a Succubus. Soon after, an Incubus starts visiting Hermione. They will have to come together to beat their nightly visitors and get past their sensual dreams. (God, it’s so good. That’s all I can say). 

The Headmaster’s Wife by @propertyofseverustsnape (Ao3)  Who says all ancient magic should be feared? When Headmaster Snape finds himself thinking thoughts he knows he shouldn’t he needs to know why. And once he knows will those feelings become set in stone. A story of love, hurt and healing; relationships both old and new; new friends and allies; old and new enemies. It is a story that will make you laugh, cry and sigh. AU/Post DH EWE. (I KNOW IT’S NOT DONE AND I DON’T CARE! I WILL ALWAYS RE-READ THE FUCK OUT OF THIS) 

Before I go to my #1 of all time, I’m giving full-on authors recs to Neelix, Mrs_Figg, @dragoon811 and @persnicketyfics. I could NEVER just pick one of their fics, so I’m reccing their entire collection. #sorrynotsorry

Now, time for the big gun, my number one SSHG fic of all time.. *drum roll*

Phantom of Hogwarts by Good_Witch (Ao3, Aswinder, PP)  How in the world does Hogwarts come to be doing a performance of The Phantom of the Opera? And just why is Snape so pissed about it? (I cannot TELL YOU how much I love this fic. It is my go-to whenever I need a pick-me-up, and if you’re a slow burn fan, well, this is the slowest of the slow burns, let me tell you. 80 chapters of love, angst and humor. *Be warned: the first like 10 or so chapter are in first person, but it switches for the rest of fic. This is my be all, end all. )

Yall though For The Potion Master’s Amusement would be on this list, huh? lol FOOLED YOU (that one is too classic to put on any list, because it’s on everyone’s lol)

See that easy apply button? Don't hit it they just throw those in the trash. Now you're gonna want to go to the company's website and check their careers page.

Oh? That job doesn't exist anymore. Cool go back to the job board and find another one.

Great you found another job, you're on the company's career page and the job exists!! So you're going to need to make an account on the career page website. They're using Workday, the same site as the last job you applied for? Who cares? You need to make another account for THIS job's workday page.

Now you're going to upload your resume. That'll autopopulate about 15 boxes with everything on your resume, except formatted wrong and with tons of errors. So just go through and painstakingly check the dates on all of that and rewrite everything you already laid out in an aesthetically pleasing format on your resume.

Ok time for the cover letter, explain why this specific job and company are deeply important to you. You love their mission statement and wouldn't even laugh if their ceo was gunned down in the street. You'll really want to reiterate the things you just spent the last 20 minutes filling out on the resume section

(Remember to include language from the job description, people who work in HR are lower than dogs and they need patterns or they get confused.) Write about a page, but hey don't sound too desperate or robotic this is where they judge your character!

Maybe add your portfolio site at the end here, who knows if that helps no one has ever clicked mine haha.

It’s not even about Trump at this point. He’s gonna get in office and do whatever he does and it’s gonna be a mess but whatever. This is indicative of deeper problem. This is just the ugly consequence of the already present reality in this country that we all just despise each other. There is no solidarity and there is no love. Trump being in office or not doesn’t change the fact that America is a breeding ground for violent hatred. Trump has given people a shining example of how to give in to the worst parts of your human nature and make it the problem of everyone around them. I don’t even know what we’re supposed to do about that. I don’t know if that’s something we can come back from. And if anything COULD be done about it, Trump certainly wouldn’t do it. Honestly, Kamala probably wouldn’t have either. We are so deeply fucked.

However, I must say, if you voted for Trump, I hope that peace never finds you. Instead, I hope clarity strikes you someday like a clap of lightning and you have to live the rest of your life with the knowledge and guilt of what you’ve done and who you are as a person.
