watching buffy makes me feel like i'm darwin on the galápagos islands but for pop culture vampires. like obviously louis & lestat are the first (popular) iterations of the modern vampire but angel & spike are the crucial evolutionary step between them and every other sexy vampire that came into existence in the 2000s. for example it's hard to see much of louis in edward but then when you realise it went louis -> angel -> edward it all makes so much sense you forget 9/11 even had anything to do with it at all

Why don’t we let the guy whose every plan could be reasonably construed as an abstract suicide attempt take a crack at it

There was a post I can’t find anymore about how Spike is the most character ever and yes he is but I would argue that Buffy is somehow even more. She’s badass. She’s a girly girl. She’s a major dork. She’s quick witted. She's painfully awkward. She’s sassy. She’s a fashion icon. She’s her own comic relief. She's brilliant. She’s calculated. She's unhinged. She's adorable. She loves hard. She loves cautiously. She’s stubborn. She has strong moral convictions. She has a rebellious streak. She makes mistakes. She’s deeply flawed. She's tough. She’s vulnerable. She’s complicated. She’s inspiring. She’s literally everything. We need more lead characters like Buffy Summers.
