the thing thats making me the most mad is watching lewis and lewis’s dad personally congratulate everyone on red bull while verstappen’s dad literally wrote an op-ed saying he doesn’t respect lewis hamilton as a person and christian horner has taken literally every opportunity to disrespect him over this entire season. blatant fucking unsportsmanship but if its directed at lewis its fine apparently
Not to be that person, but maybe some Lewis fans would be less angry at macs and redbull if they didn't have to endure a whole year of:
racist and hateful comments from both rbr and some of their fans,
constant booing,
insinuating Lewis tried to kill macs,
childish behavior and insults from macs, not to mention the lack of checking up on Lewis after that crash after underlining himself Lewis' 'reaction' to his crash,
the fact macs and rbr get away with their behavior so easily, never apologizing, never owning up to it, while Lewis has to explain himself every. single. time. he. says. or. reacts. to. anything.
Oh and the fact people have been calling macs 'champion' left and right all year long when he hasn't yet won anything while Lewis is still 'a fraud' with 7 championships.
Please let it be a safe race
congratulations to this person on having what is very possibly the stupidest take I've seen on twitter
guys sorry for the essay but no im not because this attitude in the fans is probably part of the reason these drivers stay silent. when you participate in activism publicly, you then have a responsibility and expectation on you. when you don’t, there’s no expectation.
so leclerc—instead of using his white privilege to say Literally Anything on the topic of the situation in Greece, climate change, racism, sexism, etc—is silent, as far as i know. these drivers will never truly show up for marginalized people, because they (strategically, with their PR people, i assume) set the bar on the floor for themselves.
meanwhile, lewis will get hate for speaking, hate for not speaking, hate for winning, hate for losing, hate for what shoes he decides to wear, yet he shows up nonstop. who is sticking their neck out for others like him? maybe seb, but clearly he does not get the same flak for it (due to white privilege, which seb has used for good at times).
going back to the tweet, the phrase “he doesnt owe you anything” is just bizarre. i dont care about what leclerc “owes” anyone; i care that racist white people on twitter are defending a privileged white man’s right to be silent on ALL activist issues while basically saying “lewis, the sole black person on the grid, brought expectations on himself by speaking up about important issues, so he deserves criticism, but not charles!!” LIKE HOW DO YOU NOT SEE THE ISSUE IN PUTTING THE BURDEN OF RESPONSIBILITY ON THE ONLY BLACK PERSON ON THE GRID…
and it’s not like this rando on twitter is gonna personally harm lewis with their words, but my goodness, you never think “yknow, people who live in greece, people who belong to these marginalized groups, might see what i say and realize i care less about their situation than i do about how bad a rich white athlete looks.” ???????? Hello?????

Okay we have surpassed the need for Austria, fuck Austria man
max mad about lewis celebrating when he literally said this after a driver almost dying k
I just want to reiterate what Karun said- it was a race incident :
Max is an aggressive driver everyone knows this it's not brand new information. Lewis isn't. Max has pulled that move on lewis a few times before, like he showed, and Lewis gave him space to pass through. I think because max didn't expect lewis to pull that sort of move (read 'aggressive') he didn't think he needed the space and same goes for Lewis. That's why they crashed. They didn't give each other enough space. I don't know why this is such a debate. I get the emotions are high because no one wants to see their favourite driver go to hospital but you cannot deny what is right in front of you and you cannot weaponize your faves injuries to talk shit about another driver who earned that win sorry
Max is such an ass
See the thing that infuriates me the most about this season is that Max is doing literally all the things people hated on Lewis for and he’s getting praised for it. He’s getting pole, leading the whole race and winning and suddenly it’s because he’s an impeccable driver. He’s winning with crazy stupid time advantages and suddenly it’s not because he clearly has the better car, but because he’s just that good. He screams at the team over the radio but oh it’s okay because he’s just passionate, not rude. He’s slowing down before the checkered flag and people are praising him for it instead of calling it for what it is: arrogance. Which is precisely the thing that Lewis haters criticised him for.
I would ask what changed but I think it’s crystal fucking clear. And it’s disgusting.
