Well, after having a tatrum because Skybound#34 has been delayed in the read online sites, I finaly can give a good review.
As usual, in this Kirkman's stage, there are many complains. Actually, I only have one, and a very remarkable one.
Let's start...
Flagg is acting like the only person in charge about "everything" about human/earthlings whereabouts after Cybertronians' activities.
It's like "Chicago" is the only place around the world that only matters here. I'm not surprised; it isually happens in US media... But, c'mon! Besides, the guy is lecturing Optimus like a severe father to his son. It's like: does Optimus just accept him like that?
On the other hand...
I still loving Jason Howard's art. He's really good about landscapes and doing "soft" TF faces.
Here, TC just looks goergious in his regular Seeker face, and a calmer expression. And his interaction with the Aerialbots is just cute, but too rushed.
But, for me, the best part of this issue is....
Rick SĂĄnchez!
No, wait, I mean this other mad elder doctor....
Honestly, the introduction of Henry Arkeville is kind of stupid. Who an old man would dare to attack a trained and far younger soldier like this? And why? There aren't enough explanations /yet, as usual.
Anyway, I'm glad to see a classic character like him back in action in some comics. It's nice to see somebody else besides the Witwicky Clan, even if it's in the trope-role of "mad doctor".
I'm quite sure this guy will be end up working with the Dcons.
Now, my bigger complain about this issue...
The Combaticons just popped from nowhere in front of CliffJumper and Shredhead sudendly... Because whatever.
And Clff is not the one to jump in front of them, but Shredhead.
After a-very-convenent battle, Shredhead seems to be dead, along Ounghslaugh.
It's just another "kicking effect" of Kirkman's narrative. Things happen just because, without reason. Definitively the weakest part of this issue.
Transformers Skybound 34
Just... WHERE the heck is this issue available to read online???
And no. I cannot buy it in my "local store". There isn't such a thing on my place. And yes, I know Readcomicsonline is down or something. How fitting!
I've seen houses like this on the South of Spain. Really cozy and fresh i summer.

New COMISSION WORK for @emperor-kumquat and his "TF Mercy" project! It seems TFP Starscream is pouting about something. He's very good about "pouting". A pleasure to draw this version of Star. Perhaps my fav in these series.
Hi!!! :D <3
I thought if you don't mind I'd invite you to play this game :D <3
So: I'll give you a chance to choose who you want to answer about (you can answer about all of them, I don't mind!!!).
So, Starscream/Ulchtar, Skyfire, Windblade or Wheeljack - and here are the questions:
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?
10. Could you be best friends with this character?
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?
26. What's something the character has done you can't get over? Be it something funny, bad, good, serious, whatever?
The questions come from here!
Well, those are interesting questions... Let's go ahead with all of them.
1- I like all of them. Ulchtar-Starscream, Wheeljack, Windblade and Skyfire. At least, in certain incarnations of them.
I like Starscream when he isn't "Flanderized" by Hasbro. In Skybound continuity, I see him as some short of Mr. Hyde version of the original Ulchtar. I love Ulchtar. He's a cinnamon roll, in spite of his cockyness and vanity. I like Wheeljack in most of his incarnations. I dislike him deeply in TFP. Same thing with Windblade. I love her in IDW comics. Nor care or it's indiferent in Cyberverse and CombineWars and RiD. I find her cute in the Go-go manga, somehow oddly related with G1 continuity.
Skyfire is another favorite of mine in several continuitie but I ignore him in others. War for Cybertron is a good sample of that. He's a tragic character in some, but he's a monger in others.
5-Not much. Perhaps "Everyone leaves" by Mortiis. It's somehow what Skyfire would think about Starscream in G1 (and other several) continuties.
10-Starscream would kill me for sure, (or perhaps he would spare me bc I'm an artist, as he did with Private Martin). But about the others? Yeah, surely we'll get along quite nicely.
12-For Starscream: he secretely hates what he become into because of the war. That's why he self-sabotage every attempt to take over the Dcons. Ulchtar's brothers and his clan are the other seekers.
Windblade admits (in IDW continuity) that Cybertronians had a sick society before the war, but in spite all his flaws, Starscream, as Lord of Cybertron, wants the best for Cybertron and its people. All those deeds made her to grow up a lot.
Wheeljack is a quite capable warrior, but he rather want to hang up with his creations than getting involved in a war. He also is pretty easy going and can conect with others.
20-It's different in every continuity.
G1: Starscream was quite popular among lower seekers ranks because he archive such high position in spite of being a generic seeker. He hasn't any remarkable friend, but he get along fine enough with Octane. Ulchtar was friend of Genvo and Skyfire, but he also could have get along with Beachcomber and Perceptor, even Metalhawk
Skyfire was Starscream's friends, but they also had more friends in common. However, I find his rivality with Sky-Byte quite interesting.
Windblade is kind of shy. She can hang up with people, but she isn't a social butterfly. She rather gets along select friends groups. Chromia is her amica endura, but she could get along with Moonracer, Nautica, Slyfire, Bee, and Ulchtar's clan brothers. But not in a closer level.
Wheeljack is, in spite of his nerd profile, really sociable and he can make friends easily. But he has morals and he needs "proofs" to be sure he can trusth on somebody.
21-I've written about all of them. And basically I've portrayed them with everything from above.
I cannot deny "Starscream" isn't a good person, so I don't hide that fact in my writtings. However, I put his deeds under the angle of somebody that actually is too wrecked inside that he acts like that because he cannot help.
25-Except for Windblade, who I met her in IDW comics, I met them for the first time in the G1 cartoon. Wheeljack took me a bit longer, but I loved the others at first sigh. I loved Ulchtar when I learned who's the real Starscream in Skybound/G1 cartoon.
26-Yes, in Cyberverse series. All of them are Flanderized, and I don't like them in that continuity because of that. Starscream is a nepo-baby in that series. /No Ulchtar in these series. Windblade is way too perfect till the point of being annoying. Skyfire is somehow, Buzzlight Year. No words about Wheeljack. Well, those are my two cents about every of those.
Enjoy!
G1 Combaticons&Megaempress Theory!
The G1 cartoon has many inconsistences, but one of the most interesting topics is the Combaticons' origen in the "Starscream's bridgade" episodie.
There, we can see the original Combaticons "personal components" (AKA, their sparks and brain processors) were enclosed in a so-called Decepticon-Retention Center, under Shockwave' supervision, meaning they were some kind of Decepticons' renegades or something, which is the reason becasuse Starscream wanted to use them as their personal army against Megatron.
It brings up an interesting scenario.
Soooo... What if Megaempress and her ladys team (who basically are the famale version of the DJD), where the ones that actually captured and enclosed the Combaticons?
It would fit their role in the Dcon army, and also would explain why Megaempress (and Lunaclub) are so closer to the Dcons upper ranks.
Even Lunaclub could had helped Starscream to reach the retencion center without being noticed.

Some thoughts on writing N and M
One detail struck me: while L took care of his people (expensive insurance for the Kira Investigation Team, showing visible signs of distress at Ukita's murder), Near was the only one protected by a mask at the final showdown with Light; all the other SPK members were bare-faced.
I have always found it hard to believe Near was a "personable" leader. To me, his authority rested more on cold competence and intelligence than charisma (which L/Mello had in spades). It could be said that Near did not exactly inspire affection or personal loyalty among his subordinates, and he likely was oblivious to the way he affected people. It had more to do with one's particular cast of mind than calculated cruelty; empathy, as well as its outward expression, was indeed often an acquired skill for the emotionally sparse.
If Death Note were a political or institutional drama, it would be plausible to find undercurrents of resentment inside SPK; Halle would disproportionately bear the brunt of his casual dismissiveness, as women often do in such institutions. This could explain the seemingly mysterious bond between her and Mello: both, in a way, were "victims of Near". I find this to be a much more convincing hypothesis than physical attraction or anything akin to that.
It is not difficult to imagine the cracks in Halle's loyalty deepen, either over time or triggered by a particularly egregious incident. Shakespeare would have found this familiar territory: just picture Near having his own "Ides of March", Halle as Brutus and Mello the "lean and hungry" Cassius.
To further pursue that line of thought, it would be fun to cast DN characters into Shakespearean drama. Mello with his "vaulting ambition" could be a great Macbeth, for example.
Agree. It has to be told.
Near is a quite egocentric individual. His team respects him because of his rank, his skills and his position as Lâs heir.
But not on a personal level.Â
In many occasions as the story progresses, weâre witness of Near constant -yet almost casual- dismissing the opinions of his own team. He is socially clumsy, to the point of being mean and offensive, and it isnât a matter of âfilterâ, but a matter of his own ideas being strongly biased.
To be fair, Iâm even surprised he got the conclusion Takada and Misa were being manipulated by Kira bc the two women had a crush over Kira.
Like, seriously? That conclusion is logical, but beyond that, itâs the type of conclusion you get when youâre empathy for others and have a minimum of social skills that allow you to get how human feelings work. And certainly Near is not skilled at that.
The fact Commander Lester just didnât believe it makes the whole scenario even more stupid. It was Lester who should have realized that, as well Halle. And certainly not Near.
Because Nearâs lacks of social skills, empathy and experience just donât allow him to get those human interactions.
But overall, he uses the SPK members as mere tools. He doesnât listen to their opinions, and he spend most of the time correcting them.
It may be argued itâs the consequence of a lazy writing by Obah and Obata, but in the context of the story, it has strong side effects.
Halle wanted revenge.
She wanted to get revenge on Kira because, back when Higuchi played Kira's role, somebody important for her (who eventually was told to be her brother) was murdered by Kira. And yes, Halle is aware Higuchi is dead, but she also knows her brotherâs death was caused ultimately by the original Kira, the same that killed L.
Sooo, she meant to achieve her objectives no matter how.
When she started to work under Nearâs directions, she saw her chance⊠But, what happened instead? Near dismissed her because âto be a weak womanâ, because âMellow would haunt her because of thatâ, and Near just used her to get closer to Takada because she was the only woman in the team, but not because of her skills.
What is the result? Putting aside Halleâs personal feelings for Mello, or whatever was their relationship beyond a personal level, the fact is actually Mello respected âherâ because of her skills, her reasoning and her works. And probably they both realize they felt the same about Near.
