dear diary, today i wanted to take the bus home (public transit is underfunded and unreliable) so i checked my phone (everyone carries a glowing rectangle with them at all times) but the transit schedules weren’t yet updated so i had to wait half an hour. when i arrived home i microwaved leftovers (we did not cook fresh food daily, despite year-round access to ingredients, heating, and refrigeration) and ate it while answering emails at midnight (work colonized free time)

The come-down from doing a good deed is crazy. Like I think I could rescue a baby from a burning building and 30 minutes later I’d be like, “Idk was it cringe of me to run into that building like that? The baby didn’t even seem that happy to get rescued. Honestly maybe the baby started the house fire and I interrupted an important life lesson.”

we have this conversation every hurricane season but if your man is refusing to evacuate for a natural disaster or shelter for a tornado because “it’s not that serious”, just leave, stop arguing, let him die. that’s my opinion. don’t die with him. write your number on his arm in permanent so they can call you when/if they find him in the floodwater and go. if he’s right, he’s already shown you his true colors by mocking your concern. if he’s wrong, he’s fucked.

If you have relevant education and experience and you want to take on a role such as that you need to get involved in organizations, gain trust and respect as someone who is committed and serious, understand the specific goals and procedures of your action, determine specific plans and roles, and then carry out your role in conjunction with everyone else. You don't just show up to a protest with a megaphone and say "Hi everyone I'm The Medic and if you are crying I will pour milk in your eyes" and then get upset when you're not listened to
