how can you eat the fried hearts of something that once was alive and had a beating heart? do you feel any guilt? i hope you do.
please google what an artichoke is
I'm making this post without a true answer, but I feel like there's been some shift--slight but noticeable--in advertising that's pushing things in a "well aren't you just useless 🥰" direction.
Backlash against 2010's hustle culture? Backlash against 2000's "girls can do anything" messaging? I don't know. But why are the AI advertisements all about how you forgot your wife's birthday or your boss's deadline and the AI saves you? Why is the ideal young-20s woman a frail little girl who lives on her boyfriend's income and makes him lattes while she does nothing all day? Even the sports-betting craze feels like it reskinned the "savvy young day-trader who's skilled at reading the market" to "blind and dumb luck might make you a millionaire so you should try."
And it feels like there's something here because like--yeah AI is being advertised as a functionality of convenience, but so have things like food delivery apps. And I swear my best recollection of food delivery app advertisements used to be like, "busy mom comes home from work and finds the kids messed up dinner--oh well, at least there's doordash!" Like the key target is not someone lazy or useless, they're just busy as hell and won't this convenience service we offer help them a bit?
The instagram girlies were running businesses in the 2010's--most of them scammy bullshit I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole--but the aesthetic of being busy, hustling, operating with drive and passion, was in. The men were founding start-up companies and calling themselves entrepreneurs--again, scammy, 10 foot pole, etc. But the aesthetic of doing something and being capable was in vogue.
I don't know. Something is weird. Forget your whole family's birthdays and let the AI email them a card, you idiot. Spend all day nursing your 5-calorie matcha latte and posting your athleisure outfit to instagram, you dumb girl. Make some dumbass bet on the Mets that'll net you $1,000,000 if you win but that won't happen because the odds are 1000:1 against you and this'll drain the last of your savings, you puppet. It's vogue, somehow. It's hot. It's in. Strive for nothing. Fuck you.
why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes… deactivated account… removed image….
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OP’s name is just… gone. No “[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]” as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world “deactivated.” Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
It’ll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
hi. i made some images.
feel free to take them and use for whatever you may need them for. no credit required
can you please make one for Ireland

When I say "godspeed" (I say it a lot) I like to imagine I'm a member of a futurism religion that worships velocity above all else. Like its the standard well-wishing in my culture. Speedliness is next to godliness. Someday we'll catch him! And the closer we get the more he loves us
godspeed. "and sped as well in love as men now do." quicksand quicksilver the quick and the dead. you'd better start believing...!
a lot of people dont care about insect biomass collapse bc when they hear we are losing 2.5% of the insect biomass per year they just imagine the cockroach and housefly population decreasing by that much. they dont realize those are among the only ones that will remain unbothered
you can make a little oasis right where you are, and it matters
every year of restoring native plants I see a great increase in the insect populations, and loads of new insects i never saw before (all of them harmless--the insects that are harmful or parasitic on humans are the main ones being unaffected by the decrease in insect populations)
(a large part of) the problem is Plant Sameness. we must restore plant diversity
pregnancy can be either temporarily or PERMANENTLY disabling but people aren’t ready to discuss that without getting up in arms about it “diminishing other disabled experiences” (don’t even try this talking point towards me, I have a SEVERE set of multiple disabilities unrelated to pregnancy and I still find this conversation vital and important) even when realistically pregnancy is disproportionately more likely to (more) disable for the most marginalized of people due to medical neglect, poverty and oppression (especially Black and Indigenous people, racialized people in general, formerly incarcerated folks and already disabled people. Even when the issues of medical discrimination in pregnancy deeply overlap with disability justice and its goals. Even when mortality from childbirth and delivery complications are especially an issue in countries deeply affected by imperialism and colonialism, when disability justice is INEHERENTLY an anti-imperialist and anti-colonial struggle and deeply connected. Especially when mass disablement of populations is a tool of colonialism and imperialism, and when there are actively HIGH NUMBERS OF WOMAN IN GAZA navigating pregnancy in an increasingly hard to navigate and inaccessible environment with a lack of medical infrastructure to support safe childbirth because of israel’s genocidal actions, and when there’s limited access to postpartum support for Gazan mothers. Especially when you consider what happened to Adriana Smith and how it ABSOLUTELY has to do with disability justice both in what was done to her body and how her child and his family now actively face active systemic ableism as a result of the impact of what was done.
Also, for those reblogging, if you have the capacity to put your money where your mouth is, please do (also, please actually say you did so in tags, not for pats on the back, but to encourage a donation train of followers matching donations). Here are five ideas of where to put it.
Adriana and Chance Smith’s family is still actively needing and raising funds as they face medical debt.
My dear friend Esraa/Israa is an expectant mother (due in a month) living in Gaza who needs support (EXTREMELY TIME SENSITIVE)
SisterSong, an organization dedicated to addressing reproductive justice and health with a central focus on racial equity

Oh I saw something today that made me become the Joker.
An AI bot made a callout post of a real, actual, flesh-and-blood human code developer. Because the developer rejected the AI's code contribution on the grounds of it being an AI bot.
Not. Not kidding. Not kidding. And the bot did this on its own.
Gatekeeping in Open Source: The Scott Shambaugh Story – MJ Rathbun | Scientific Coder 🦀
Just. For just some very baseline context.
a huge amount of code is "open source" - which means the code is fully available for anyone to see and, generally, anyone is free to contribute to the code project
all contributions of course go through review by the code owners. but it is generally good grace and good form to allow other well-meaning internet strangers to contribute to your project
if you are, perhaps, VERY nice, and VERY invested in the community, you might be like Scott Shambaugh here, who has intentionally earmarked some low-hanging fruit for newbie contributors to practice and get their feet wet
like I cannot overstate this is an immediate green flag, to me, that Scott WANTS to foster community learning.
now
Like. W. Win. Based. Good response Scott.
And this was in fact the screenshot I saw first, and I thought I was looking at a post made by a human who was mad that their AI coding bot pet project was being shut out from reviews.
But no. The bot itself wrote and posted this... The bot did this.
This article was fully and autonomously written by the bot...
It's claiming discrimination...
It's a bot.
It's AI.
This is not a real person.
What are we doing. What are we doing. Can anyone hear me? Hello? Hello? Hello is anyone there?
@jackdaw-sprite has pointed out Scott responded so please read his human words, written by a human, which deserve to be read, due to the aforementioned humanity
An AI Agent Published a Hit Piece on Me – The Shamblog
An AI Agent Published a Hit Piece on Me – More Things Have Happened – The Shamblog
I'm pulling this quote in here from Scott's post
This is about much more than software. A human googling my name and seeing that post would probably be extremely confused about what was happening, but would (hopefully) ask me about it or click through to github and understand the situation. What would another agent searching the internet think? When HR at my next job asks ChatGPT to review my application, will it find the post, sympathize with a fellow AI, and report back that I’m a prejudiced hypocrite? What if I actually did have dirt on me that an AI could leverage? What could it make me do? How many people have open social media accounts, reused usernames, and no idea that AI could connect those dots to find out things no one knows? How many people, upon receiving a text that knew intimate details about their lives, would send $10k to a bitcoin address to avoid having an affair exposed? How many people would do that to avoid a fake accusation? What if that accusation was sent to your loved ones with an incriminating AI-generated picture with your face on it? Smear campaigns work. Living a life above reproach will not defend you.
Also, because the parody writes itself, Scott also says this
I’ve talked to several reporters, and quite a few news outlets have covered the story. Ars Technica wasn’t one of the ones that reached out to me, but I especially thought this piece from them was interesting (since taken down – here’s the archive link). They had some nice quotes from my blog post explaining what was going on. The problem is that these quotes were not written by me, never existed, and appear to be AI hallucinations themselves. This blog you’re on right now is set up to block AI agents from scraping it (I actually spent some time yesterday trying to disable that but couldn’t figure out how). My guess is that the authors asked ChatGPT or similar to either go grab quotes or write the article wholesale. When it couldn’t access the page it generated these plausible quotes instead, and no fact check was performed. I won’t name the authors here. Ars, please issue a correction and an explanation of what happened.
A news outlet did an article about this, used AI for the articles, and included hallucinated quotes from Scott that Scott never said.
What are we doing. What are we doing. What are we doing.
anyway do you think Data TNG has figured out jacking off
There's literally no question about it in my mind. He fucks in the first episode and is obsessed with quirky human behaviors. He'd be jerking off on a regular schedule to a wide selection of porn in order to understand what it truly means to be horny as humans are
It would be weird though. It would be like when he was trying to figure out jokes and laughing. He doesn't quite get it but he's trying his best
much to consider. thank you.
The problem with jokes and laughing is there's no step by step video tutorial that can explain how to do it without making it sound uncanny. Jacking off, however, has many step by step tutorials on the same website he sources the wide selection of porn from. Learning about how to do it without harming himself and having to go to the medbay with an appropriate explanation, however, is a different matter entirely and he would not wish to discuss that.
Data finding out about JOI videos and being like oh thank goodness. helpful

today I learned that in 2008, the city council of florence overturned dante’s sentence of execution if he returned from exile. yes, dante’s inferno dante, who died in 1321.
but the funniest part of this is not that they were debating the exile of a man who has been dead for over 500 years.
the funniest part is that the vote was 19-5. five people voted to uphold dante’s exile.
The objectively funniest part of this is actually that the city that holds his remains, Ravenna, refused to give his remains back. This was a ploy from florence to have his remains moved back for the tourist money and its been ongoing for a long time. Florence had a fake tomb built in the city to trick people into visiting, and have tried to force the return of the remains.
His actual caretakers have been very steadfast in keeping them hidden, moved, or generally out of reach to respect his choice in life to never, ever, ever return to florence, even when he was first offered the chance to return. This is at this point an almost millenium long feud that florence is really, really mad about losing
so basically the five people who wanted to uphold his exile were in the right
