Y'all gotta realize that some of us are weary because of the direct violence that comes with this presidency. Sure he can’t do x,y,z, but that’s not going to stop his supporters from harassing, murdering and discriminating against minorities. His election has given them the thumbs up to be openly prejudiced at a greater amplitude. The direct threat comes from his supporters, and that’s what’s terrifying. These people are all around us in positions of power and education. Their confidence in their bigotry has been restored and multiplied and that is extremely worrisome.

No but seriously, this gets to the heart of why Trump is unfit to be President - he has no understanding of how democratic government works. He thinks politicians can just stand up and say “do this” and the rest of the world makes like Anthony “when Caesar says, “do this,” it is performed.”

I’ve noticed this is a common belief amongst people who don’t know very much about politics - they tend to think the government is far more powerful than it really is. “Why doesn’t the government do something about this?” or “why did the government do something about that?” The honest answer is “Well the government tried to do something about that and it didn’t work / it could have, but you would have hated the only plausible solution, / actually that is beyond the governments ability control, at least without implementing a command economy or a police state or both.”

Sadly politicians who are in opposition like to play on this belief, and make out that the levers of power are easily grasped and simple to operate, and things would be OK if only there was a change in the person driving. Sooner or later they get into government and realise the error of their ways.

Trump is unfit to be President in many ways, add this to the list: he has basically walked in off the street into this job, and he has 1) the naive views of a novice who thinks it’s all so simple, and that the so called “experts” have just missed the obvious, and 2) a genuine desire to be a Caesar.
