CITY WALLS First impressions: I really really hoped the first minute would somehow outdo Overcompensate because Overcompensate first minute makes me feel like I’m being rebirthed in the world and it gets me so excited everytime. BUT I didn't mind too much that it was very same-same, i just assumed it'd make sense with the MV when it'd come out two days later. The chorus was SO devestating. Immediately imagined torchbearer and clancy and auguhhhhhhh despair agony suffering etc etc. Also did anybody else think he was saying ' I don't have a clue how I can keep the top half blue' ??? i was going crazy because blue is a sign of defeat land what was Mr Tyler Joseph trying to imply it's actually a happy ending where Clancy and Torchbearer ride off into the sunset together while making out, and that's just a flashback moment to scare the fuck out of us' which we all know now. did not happen. The vessel references disconcerted me because to me that album doesn't really relate to the lore so i was left to ponder on that and why that choice was made. The screaming at the end was extremely delicious and I loved it Current impressions: I couldn't listen to this song for a week after the MV because i was gonna bawl my eyes out every time i heard it. At first I wasn’t a massive fan of the structure even though it made sense for the mv and it being the finale to the lore. Like I enjoyed City Walls for the lore but not for casual listening. Like the tone changes were a bit too much for me initially but now I just love love love the switch ups. I’m still finding so  many new production-stuff and harmonies, it’s just such a fun song to listen to. I like ‘entertain my faith’ and ‘address my soul’ because from a religious perspective (which can also be interepted story/lore wise) it’s the difference between ‘prove to me you’re real, show me you’re here’ and ‘make me choose, make me prove I have faith to you’ because truly in the end, Faith is a choice. And Clancy made his choice. ALSO no one ever talks about how evil it was for them to play the music video twice during the premiere because my ass was clinging onto the fact that the second time was actually a different ending and Clancy breaks the cycle. But no that didn’t happen because the pilots are evil. Evil diabolical pilots. ~*~

RAWFEAR First impressions: I disliked this song when i first listened. I couldn't get past the ' ah ah ah' and 'oo oo oos' bahahahha (which was like. oldies station for me with the 'relative pain' and 'nothing in the tank' and now it’s my favourite song of all time) so RAWFEAR being the second song on the album really made me go 'hm. ok' I incredibly enjoyed the bridge apart from that part. Again with my mishearing, I thought it was 'wish our parents would stop yelling' and that was incredibly devestating to me but now I kinda wonder who 'her parents' are. Current impressions: RAWFEAR immediately shot up to like 3rd favourite after the 4th/5th listen. It has a great danceability score and cyclical feel where it doesn’t get old. The bits I didn’t like from the first listen started sounding less ‘bad’ to me lol. It hits hard, I don’t know what else to say haha. I’ve made art for it, so it shows what kind of impact this song has had on me. My favourite part of RAWFEAR is the lyric: “It is not pass or fail, but a poisonous progression-- try to microdose yourself to immunity but you’ll never, ever get it.” As a young person, it’s reassuring in some way, it’s okay if you never fully move on from the things that hurt you. ~*~

DRUM SHOW First impressions: The mv is GORGEOUSSS, I love the colours and it's just so yummyyy. Lyrically felt very weak, the second verse only being 22 words long kinda was an. oh ok. moment (with the first verse being 15 words) like 10 seconds have passed and we’re already back to the pre-chorus. What do you mean. But highk the bass/instrumental made it so worth it. JOCALS!! and the scream was ughhh beautiful. The synth at the end was so scrumptious, I really really liked that part, along with the raspiness in the final choruses Current impressions: I highk wanted a drum solo. you know. in the drum show song. something like lane boy or even the contract. Maybe it's because I don't know much about drums and this might be a crazy cool drum song to the drummers, but hey an 8 bar drum solo would've been real nice. I looped this one so so much when it first came out that i overplayed it by the time breach came out so this became a skip for me for the first two weeks oops. I think drum show is somewhere in the lower end of my objective ratings but the aesthetics, jocals, scream and it being like Josh's version of car radio makes it special to me. My favourite part of drum show is the synth at the end, it still remains one of my fave sections in Breach. ~*~ 4.GARBAGE First impressions: I do not remember anything, I did like it though!! Maybe not THAT much but the chorus was definitely something that made me sit there and go. Wow. headinhands Current impressions: It took me a while to get around to **fully** liking garbage, it definitely sat on the lower half of my breach streams for a good 3 weeks. The thing that got me into liking it a bit more was watching the videos of it being performed live at Toronto N1. Like it was so cool seeing the crowd support Tyler with the vocals and him being so happy with it just made the song shift up for me. Their live performances of their songs tend to affect how I feel about them. Backslide resurged up for me when I watched the videos of the scream bahahaha, as well as stressed out <-- I really really love the ending of breach stressed out. It’s sooooo ughhhhhh. Yummy. I started connecting more with garbage in the later half of October, when my health took a turn for the worse and having to go through it basically alone + final exam season. It’s actually not that bad but there’s a concern that it’s something severe and it’s been a rough couple weeks at the time of writing this. I guess Breach came out at a very good time for me.  My favourite part of garbage is the little blip at 1:00. Idk how to explain it but it’s SO satisfying to listen to. ~*~ 5. THE CONTRACT First impressions: Amazing for a single, loved the mv the editing was so insane and aghh it was gorgeouss, spooky jim with the red eyeliner as well krkrkrkkr, also loved the HDS drum solo and the way the second verse is sung is so so satisfying. Current thoughts: It definitely went down to my least favourite out of the whole album (i love it, but every other song felt better) but its regaining favour. It's such a vibe and after a couple months I remembered why I liked it so much!! I'm glad this one was the single hehe, i feel like any of the others wouldn't have been as interesting in a way. Been listening to the contract a lot recently. Honestly after the first week it came out, again I was pretty disappointed by the lack of lyric/verse, which i noticed in clancy as well. I guess it fits into the whole 'haunting cycle/trapped in a nightmare' thing but ehhhhh didn't really want the entire last minute of the song to just be the chorus over and over again. I still really want to know what the contract is though. can they tell us soon. please. My favourite parts of the contract is the second verse and the HDS drum fill. ~*~
