Charles "Chuck" Wyatt: The Anti-Kaiba.
Bold title I know, but this is something I've been meaning to write for a long time.
Over a decade ago, when I got into RPing, I was in a big Yugioh phase like I am right now. The show was on Netflix and I was watching it for the first time since I'd seen the original run on Saturday Morning Cartoons, so I created an original character for the series that I loved so much. Back in the mid 2010's, I wasn't very good at RPing or any sort of creative writing for that matter, and I didn't really have his backstory that well developed. But when I got back into Yugioh recently due to ConTV on YouTube having a Livestream of all 224 episodes playing back to back, I got back into Yugioh RPing and revamped my old OC.

(I hope to commission some more art of him in the future when money for groceries and life isnβt as tight. Perhaps a birthday or Christmas present for myself besides GTA 6 lmao.)
His dimensions and descriptions are as follows: Age: 21-30 (depending on the RP) DOB: July 4th. Hair color: Black. Eye Color: Crimson Red. Height: 6'5" Weight 250 lbs. Sexuality: Bisexual (Top). Like the title suggests, I refer to Chuck as the "Anti-Kaiba", but what exactly does that mean? Well, we've seen several attempts at Kaiba-Likes in Yugioh, mainly two. Amelda/Alister, and Sigfried/Zigfried von Schroeder.
While I like those characters for what they are, I feel like the concept of an "Anti-Kaiba" could be done a lot better, especially in regard to Zigfried. It's no wonder that the Grand Championship arc is the least well liked arc in Yugioh. Even more filler after an entire season of filler (despite how much I love Waking the Dragons, it's filler unfortunately), easily having the worst animation quality of the series, and the fact that the villain of the arc is essentially pink haired German Kaiba but not as successful or good at dueling and just generally worse at all the things Kaiba does. I like to think I can do better than that. First, general personality. Chuck isn't the sealed off iceberg that Kaiba is. He's a man of the people. He's friendly, polite, kind, always willing to help someone out if they need it. But he's not afraid to protect those he cares about from bad people...He's fiercely loyal, almost to a fault. But is it all a front, is there something hiding within his heart? Secondly, I decided that the idea of the character also being a young rich billionaire was something I wanted to include. Yugi and Atem might be Kaiba's rivals on the dueling field, but Chuck is his rival in the business world. That being said, he is not in the gaming/hologram technology business. No, he is in a different business altogether...Firearms. Chuck is the CEO of Wyatt Industries, a firearms conglomerate that has taken the gun industry by storm over the past 2-3 years (whenever the story or RP is set). But before we get to that, we need to start at the beginning. "Anti-Kaiba" doesn't mean everything is the opposite, it means he's a mirror image of everyone's favorite anime rival. Similar...But different.
And that means that despite all of the good looks, the newfound money and the fame...Not everything has always been grand.
Chuck's mother died when he was only 5 years old from complications due to giving birth to his baby brother, Lucas. Lucas unfortunately...Was Stillborn. This put a lot of traumatic strain on his father, strain that was on top of having been a Colonel in the US Marine Corps before Chuck was born. Despite the hardships, Mr. Wyatt and Chuck lived fairly happily in the historic Upstate New York town of Saratoga Springs. Mr. Wyatt owned and operated a gun shop with their home connected to the building on the back. Chuck spent a lot of time around firearms as a young boy, and Mr. Wyatt taught him the importance of gun safety as well as teaching him to shoot smaller caliber weapons when he got older. Mr. Wyatt also did gun-smithing at the shop and showed Chuck everything he knew about it. He even would show him the secret project he'd been working on since retiring from the Marine Corps...A new rifle design that he someday intended to submit for military trials. Happiness seemed to not be able to last long for the Wyatt family, because tragedy struck again when Chuck's father grew extremely ill and passed away all of a sudden...Leaving Chuck an Orphan at ten years old. Instead of being sent to an orphanage, Chuck moved in with his father's brother and his wife. Chuck's uncle and aunt were extremely nurturing and caring to him...Treating him like he was one of their own children alongside their biological kids. But things were once again not perfect. Despite his explicit desire to enter the engineering space and become a gunsmith (and to finish his father's prototype), his uncle and aunt suggested a more 'grounded and sustainable path'. Chuck was also dealing with some bullying due to hitting puberty and growing tall and somewhat skinny. He settled on athletics and fitness as a compromise for his aunt and uncle as well as a way to train his body and get the bullies off his back. Over the next several years of his life, Chuck did almost nothing but schoolwork, physical training and sneaking off to his old home and father's gun shop to work on the prototype in secret. For he had decided that the path his uncle and aunt wanted for him was not what he wanted himself...And his father had it in the will that the property and contents could not be sold and would immediately transfer to Chuck once he'd reached his 18th birthday and become a legal adult.
Chuck got huge, to the point where people in school began to suggest he was taking steroids, but that was all a lie. He would just continue to shelter his heart and mind, focusing on his goal: Make his father's dream a reality by finishing the rifle and submitting it to US military trials. He had no true 'friends' to speak of. School acquaintances and the like, but not a tight knit group like Yugi Muto has. After years of blood, sweat, tears, frustrations, and a lot of secrecy...It was finally time. The rifle was finished. He'd stuck to most of the plans his father came up with, but tweaked some other things to make the weapon a team effort between he and his late father. He called it The XM8 (I'm using the actual XM8 rifle from the early 2000's as the design. For story purposes, it was not invented 20~ years ago...Chuck's dad and Chuck himself invented it.) It seemed as though Chuck's newfound luck was not done yet. It just so happened that there were trials being held by the US Army and Marine Corps for a new standard issue rifle. After quickly filing for an LLC and getting the requirements for a Federal Firearms License and an SOT, Wyatt Industries was born. A company of just one man submitted the XM8 prototype to the trials and to the shock of the firearms industry and world...Wyatt Industries' XM8 rifle won the contrac and became the M5 rifle, flushing Chuck with several billion dollars of funding. Using smart business acumen and tactics, Chuck was able to buy out the struggling Colt CZ group. He now had an entire firearms manufacturing company at his disposal, and all efforts were shifted into making the rifle for the Army and Marines...But semi-automatic versions of the rifle for the civilian market. Boatloads of cash began to roll in, and Chuck used the momentum to buy out two of old Colt's biggest competitors...Ruger and Smith & Wesson. Now that 3 of the largest and most storied gun companies fall under the Wyatt Industries umbrella, Chuck directs these companies to focus their efforts on what the people want, not maximizing profit margins and other corpo tactics. He became a billionaire fresh out of high school, which wasn't as good of a record as Seto Kaiba who did it at 15...But now Kaiba had actual competition on the world stage when it came to business/finance. And in the tech genius' absence from the world stage (being in Aaru to settle the score with Atem post DSOD), Chuck Wyatt emerges as the world's preeminent young, industry changing billionaire. One might ask why I decided to go for the industry I went for. I chose small arms/guns as the business and heart of the character because I feel that it is important to the idea of the Anti-Kaiba. Kaiba hates the Military Industrial Complex...And Chuck is part of that despite all of his efforts to position Wyatt Industries and it's subsidiaries as being for 'We The People.'
The rifles carried by US Troops bear his company's name and logo, his name. This is often something Kaiba will bring up to him when the two encounter each other, and it can sometimes get quite volatile. See, in the absence and return of Seto Kaiba and the rise of Chuck Wyat...The legacy media and social media have stoked the flames of rivalry between the two billionaires despite them being in different industries.
I suppose I won't go into every minutia of detail for him, that would take forever and make the post a total slog to read lmao... Thank you to everyone who reads this, it means the world to me. :)
