i do not want to know.

“what are your biggest TBI deficits?”

-the nonstop LOUD AS HELL tinnitus. (ringing in the ears. kind of like whistling. mine randomly changes tone and frequency.)

-MY MEMORY😭

-the nonstop neurological pain in my right shin.

-my inability to see to the right/seeing double when i look to the right.

-the tremors in my left hand and arm.

-my attention span.

-the sadness that won’t leave me alone no matter how much i meditate and exercise… i even tried a mood stabilizer for a few years, but it made my depression worse….

-my inability to live independently as i approach 32 years of age.

-THE FACT THAT I LOOK “NORMAL”.

-my impulsive splurges on trying to make myself “happy”.

but most of all, the fact that i am only about 10 weeks shy of having my traumatic brain injury for ELEVEN YEARS, and i am STILL unraveling new deficits.

it izzz a never ending/lifelong disability………….

gosh darn it. if only younger alexandra would have considered her future. 😭

A few days ago, one of my colleagues saw a one year old kitty for sudden onset seizures. First thought was idiopathic epilepsy, but:

Turned out that someone in the family had brought lilies into the house and put them up high, thinking that the cat wouldn't get to them. Alas, even a lick of pollen from lilies causes fatal kidney damage in cats.

Said cat was not epileptic. Her kidneys were fried, so she lost her life at one year of age.

If you have cats in the house, that means no lilies, no matter how high up they are.

No lilies. Ever. Not even once. If someone gives you a bouquet with lilies, throw the lilies out before you ever bring those flowers into your house. Just breathing the pollen in the air can kill a cat.

If you have cats, please take this seriously. No lilies.

Tumblr pushed out this announcement a few days ago as the tidal wave of "mature" content flagging hit everyone's dashboard and posts.

This passage here is really indigestible and not sitting well with me:

"Why We’re Doing This These updates help make Tumblr safer and more consistent for everyone. They will help protect users, especially younger audiences or anyone else who prefers not to see this content."

Umm... Why are you putting the burden on the majority of users when those primarily affected already have tools and recourse to enjoy a "safe" browsing experience?

Younger audiences...shouldn't be here engaging in the first place, per Tumblr's own terms of use during account creation, right?

Anyone else "who prefers not to see this content" can learn how to deploy a few little filters for their browsing pleasure in less time than it takes to clutch their pearls.

Let’s be honest: this notion of safety is performative pandering. It’s not about protecting anyone. It’s about putting up a front to appease advertisers. It’s about pretending to solve a problem instead of engaging with it responsibly. Parents—not platforms—are responsible for managing what their kids see online. Punishing adults for occupying adult spaces does nothing to make the internet safer; it just makes it emptier and duller.

This is exactly what Vox described as the “enshittification” of social media—where platforms degrade the user experience to chase vague corporate virtue and—of course, that McGinley of everything that was once beloved and became popular—profit. AI moderation and empty “community protection” rhetoric are part of that decline. They strip away nuance, creativity, and humanity in all its chaotic, but honest, glory.

Tumblr built its reputation as a home for artists, writers, and creators who express whimsical, wonderful, weird, and beautiful creativity running the gamut of human emotions and experiences. Now, those same creators are being silenced by a malfunctioning algorithm that cannot tell the difference between art, education, and obscenity. It’s hurting creators, diminishing visibility, and possibly placing them at risk of shadow bans or account restrictions—all because of poor automated moderation while ramming this really dangerous, puritanical vision of what is "appropriate" down our throats.

We deserve a lot better.

why me?

i literally am the sweetest, most understanding, compassionate, positive young lady (yes i am 30 now but that is till relatively young) yet i get hurt at freaking crossfit (so hurt that i can hardly walk normally), i get fired from my job because i asked for a MEDICALLY EXCUSED leave of absence, i can't find ONE single man to gaf about me and my feelings, i apply for different jobs and hear nothing after my interview, i applied for multiple positions at this one place and i got an email that said i didn't meet the age requirement? like, are you kidding me? i must have written it wrong in my resume then, cuz what the fck? I'M THIRTY YEARS OLD. HOW DOES THAT NOT MEET AN AGE REQUIREMENT TO BE A HOUSEKEEPER????
