Okay so the fundamental premise of the wheel of time is that the third age, the age in which the series takes place, has come before and will come again, and it’s part of the central themes about human storytelling and stuff, anyway, point being. Lots of fans of the books were big mad when the show came out because it has so many changes, but I disagree entirely. The show isn’t a direct adaptation of the third age of the books, it’s another turning of the wheel of time, the third age come again, when the characters have a chance to do better. In episode one there’s the scene where rand’s dad explains the wheel and explains that idea, but lots of people didn’t get that part, didn’t want to accept that it wouldn’t be a direct adaptation but instead kind of a post canon fanfic where character’s arcs play out slightly differently the next time around, and so there are lots of salty book fans who still won’t give it a chance at all, which is ridiculous tbh
I think the book series and show adaptation complement each other beautifully, it’s in conversation with the original rather than trying and failing to copy it exactly (these books are long a one for one adaptation would be unwatchable), and I think people should give both a try :)
