The Ascendancy books are so funny because Thalias, a civilian, is consistently treated like Thrawn and Samakro's "third man", moreso than the actual second officer himself, and everyone else in the fleet sort of just goes along with it except for Samakro, who seems to be the only person in the fleet who acknowledges how insane this is, but nobody is listening to him so he just progressively feels more and more like his life in the fleet is getting turned upside down and he doesn't know what's left from right anymore

Firstly, I know that theyāve been trying to play into the audience of women/afab/fem-presenting people that are attracted to or self-ship with Rick. That being said, it never changed anything for the ones I know for Rick to be into men.
They werenāt scared to give us a little Nimbus x Rick action in the intro sequence, but in s7 they ruined Unityās character and essentially retconned it as a āspace womanā instead of an agender/non-defined entity (I know this couldāve happened by just not knowing the source material for the character but cāmon).
