Could Nimbus be the only person in the current universe with tangible memories left of Diane?

I’ve thought about all the angles.

Firstly, I know that they’ve been trying to play into the audience of women/afab/fem-presenting people that are attracted to or self-ship with Rick. That being said, it never changed anything for the ones I know for Rick to be into men.

They weren’t scared to give us a little Nimbus x Rick action in the intro sequence, but in s7 they ruined Unity’s character and essentially retconned it as a ‘space woman’ instead of an agender/non-defined entity (I know this could’ve happened by just not knowing the source material for the character but c’mon).

It’s a HIVE-MIND! YOU’RE GONNA HAVE MEN OUTSIDE!

Rick was shown fooling around with all members of Unity without discriminating on age, sex, etc.

On top of that, what happened to Blood Ridge? What happened to that queer rage?

What happened to ‘just fuck and get it over with’, Adderall and barbecue dates, and begging to be a plus 1?

Nah, we’ll just make Curtis date Wong (undecided on if they’re going to make a point about that being a bid for Rick’s attention because he was jealous).

YES. He has a dead wife. I’m not saying he’s not attracted to women, and I’m not saying he won’t continue to pursue them.

BUT, that’s never been his exclusive preference. To pretend that they haven’t confirmed his pansexuality on and off screen would be silly.

What happened to ‘Bisexuality is the baseline in Rick and Morty’?

While I highly doubt it, the only thing I can think is that Rick accidentally removed his queer thoughts when he removed that memory of Diane.

Do they not care about what’s been established about his preferences previously? Are they trying to be palatable to a larger audience with the growing bigotry breaking into the mainstream? Do they not do their research before writing new plots?

Not overlooking that we still have the Beth’s. I’m being dramatic. Let me be dramatic.

Now is a time that’s so important to have queer people on screen.

The fact that he made giant Diane robots that are forced to protect him— some even without mouths— hints that he was probably abusive and controlling, fantasizing about a version of Diane he could control completely; a version of Diane that literally revolved around him; a version of Diane that couldn’t disagree.

Erasing her from infinity had nothing to with revenge on other Ricks who chose their families (or maybe even C-137) at all.

Maybe erasing her from infinity was the only way for Prime to control her forever, even her memory; even who could be with her in any conceivable universe.
