* I discovered Baikal when one of my Russian teachers in university brought a bottle for the last class of the year and was in the trenches for several years because I didn’t know where I could buy any. Now I know :>

* My grandma used to make her own jam when I was younger and I still think nothing compares to her homemade jam. So (well-made) jam treats instantly take me back to childhood

* To me: grandparents’ house is the one place you know you’re loved unconditionally when things aren’t great at “home”. It’s kitschy and the wooden furniture is uncomfortable, the pillows are old and hard, but when you’re sat at the table with herbal tea and biscuits you don’t mind as much. It’s the coolest, safest place that exists. That’s what I wanted to draw

* Someone has to explain why I looked up soviet apartments to get a feel for what to draw and was like “wow! that’s my grandparents’ place” and then I grew up in Normandy, France so definitely not anywhere close
