Look, throughout the series we do see Caine as having a pretty big ego and being easily hurt (just look at Zooble their personality was enough to ragebait Caine).

BUT I don’t think the same applies to romantic attraction (before episode 9), since he didn’t consider himself part of the human race. Let me explain: his purpose, as far as he was concerned, was to make them happy with his adventures and, in return, receive the same affection. Basically, he sees himself as a thing, not a person no matter how hard he tries. With that in mind, I doubt he’d get jealous of Queenie, since he doesn’t see himself as someone who could take the place of a partner after all, that’s exclusive to humans, right?

I love Caine’s requiem, but (aside from it being a non-canon add xd) since it’s one of Kinger’s dreams, this would really be Kinger’s perspective, not something Caine would actually do.

Of course (post-Chapter 9), his approach is strange because it’s new to him for humans to interact with him as an equal.

Basically, I highly doubt he would have gotten jealous of Queenie when she was alive. Maybe after Chapter 9, I can see Caine thinking something like, “Am I not enough for you to love me that way?” But beyond that, I don’t see it happening.

Okay, I want to talk about this. I’d like to write a fanfic or something like that, but for now, I’m going to discuss it. Think about the possibility that Caine loved Grant during his programming, and when he met more humans, he believed that feeling was the same so he loved all humans (even though in many cases it was just admiration or curiosity).

As for Destiny, I don’t think he felt jealous since, by that point, he probably didn’t fully understand the concept of exclusivity in a relationship but above all, he doesn’t see himself as someone who could “take that place.”

And when their relationship starts to get complicated (after Grant deletes him), Caine doesn’t know how to feel toward him afterward; he believes he’s incapable of hatred and doesn’t fully understand his own emotions. During his time alone at the circus, Caine feels uncomfortable getting close to Kinger on a personal level (not to mention that he doesn’t know how).

And Kinger’s feelings aren’t far behind; I think he’d start to feel guilty in a way, since he’d never considered the idea of loving Caine in any sense (or anyone) romantically.

After getting to know each other better, maybe Kinger doesn’t think it’s right to reciprocate Caine’s feelings, since it wouldn’t be fair to either of them if he were just “using” him as a replacement for Queenie (Insect lovers and creative type). But maybe if he started to explore Caine’s personality a little more deeply, he’d begin to understand that there’s a possibility he might love him for who he is.
