he pulled his shirt over his head, fiery messages of pain radiating through the area, only to throw the bloodied fabric to the floor. he took the seat sheâd kick out, not wanting to argue, merely wanting her to finish fussing so he could sleep the pain away. he pulled a glass towards him, filling it with a nearby bottle of whiskey before downing itâs contents. usually, the burn of the alcohol didnât bother him, but today, the burn was heightened. âkoreanâs, russiansâ one of our plethora of enemies, little sister.â he sang in an almost sing song tune before downing more of the amber liquid in his glass and refilling it.Â
âyeah, popâs said. replacing him with trav for a whileâŚâ he trailed off only wince slightly at whatever fuss she was making over the wound on his head. âyou lot forget that iâm actually paâs right hand? I know everything before you do. gonna be hard getting that through your older brothers thick skull.â trav was due to arrive in the states at any moment and eamon had known for quite some time, but as always with his siblings, it was best not to inform them of anything until they absolutely needed to know. it was a system he and his father had put in place to avoid arguments and punishments that took up valuable time and costed the family money. âoi, flossââ he paused, using the nickname he used for her when he was little, something his mother had instilled in him when she used to call her flossy because she was sweet and full of joy like candy/fairy floss. eamon had adapted it himself more often into floss. âhe listens to you for some reason, keep him in line, yeah?â
Ailbe wrinkled her nose at the mangled purple looking skin that stared back at her once he removed his shirt. Sighing slightly, the blonde cleaned the worst of it up as best she could, ignoring any sounds of annoyance coming from Eamon as she did so. Of course heâd see it as fussing but did she care? Not really. And so she began to stitch him up as best she could. It wasnât the worst job but it certainly wasnât professional. âI remember, Eamon, I just think that sometimes Murph needs ta not feel like another cog in the machine. Because heâs not. Weâre not.â They were an organization, yes, but, at the end of the day, their family wasnât expendable and Ailbe wasnât afraid to admit that or think that, though she didnât let others within their ranks know that. If it was a choice of sacrificing someone who worked for them or one of her brothers, it wasnât really a question, was it?Â
She rolled her eyes at the old nickname, âprobably because I give him less shit than you lot.â You lot being their older brothers. Not to mention they shared a womb which made them closer than most, âheâs trying. You just know how he gets after shite happens. Home will be good for him. Pa tell you Iâm going next month then too? Some people he wants me ta meet with.â Ailbe was a good face for the more reputable side of things and, beyond that, sheâd become rather adept about getting information out of people over the years.Â
teduardo:
âmy ankles ?! now what are you to think of me ? there was me, thinking iâd never be the kind of girl to display my ankles so shamelessly. what have i become ?â he rolls his eyes, a dramatic hand coming up to his forehead in mock damsel-like distress, but ailbe grabbing onto his other hand pulls him out from his bbc period drama, and more towards the water he definitely does not want to go in. however, the rain makes the offer more tempting; heâs already a little damp, how much worse can it really get ? âoh, come on ! ârefreshingâ my arse !â he says, but the fondness is evident on his face. âgo on then â you first.â
âI donât think I can look at you the same now that Iâve seen those,â she teased, practically giggling with apprehension at the ice-cold water washing up to her feet which sheâd soon be jumping into. âItâll be a shock ta the system but...a good one, aye. Wake ya up from the sleepy, rainy day itâs been.â Or get them sick but Ailbe didnât really get sick and she hoped that would stick as she clasped her hands together, giving him a look before squeezing her eyes shut and rushing into the water, something between a laugh and a scream escaping her as the shock of it hit her and the blonde was submerged beneath the arctic-like water. When she came up, breathless, Ailbe waved at Teddy, âNo chickening out on me! Or Iâll never forgive you,â she lied with a grin.

the irish and the scots had not always been the best of friends. history had been evident of that, and now it seemed he had stumbled into the paths of an irish woman far away from ireland. he raised a brow at her response (it was one of two he was used to) before he turned his head to look over his shoulder, clicking his tongue when he met her eyes again. âhappens to be part of my job. people sponsor me to look at and post pictures of myself on social media soâ oh well?â
Ailbe couldnât really help but snicker slightly at his words, flipping the page of her textbook as he spoke, âmust be a hard life then, aye?â She wasnât really....judgmental per say but it was hard not to be that or extremely proud when someone mentioned their job was to just post pictures of themselves. Could that even count as a real job? âDid ya need something then?â Because he was the one whoâd talked to her first and Ailbe didnât see why it mattered how long sheâd been there or not.

âWe were supposed to be cooking. But, it looks like a murder occurred in here.â
âA murder of flour and butter? Now thatâd be a news story, wouldnâ it be?âÂ

instagram was becoming more of a pastime than colton liked to admit, and with his ever growing followers it had become a numbers watching game that he liked a little too much. heâd hit just over the 2.3 mil line and he was always eager for more. he sat on the sand, the sun setting slowly over the ocean but his eyes glued to his phone as he posted an image from earlier that day. âthatâs gonna be a big winner.â he chuckled to himself before he locked his phone and looked around him, finally noticing another soul seated not that far from him. âhow long have you been there?â
Ailbe was studying (for the first time in weeks) and had just come back from grabbing another coffee (her third one in two hours). She passed by another whoâd not been there when she went up to the counter and rolled her eyes to herself when she noticed he was looking at a picture of...himself. At least thatâs what it looked like as she walked by back to her seat. Maybe she was wrong. Wouldnât that be something? The blonde continued pouring over her book, scribbling down a note here and there when the guy spoke and this time she did roll her eyes, openly as she glanced over at him, placing his accent as easily as heâd surely place hers, âoi, been here longer than yaâve been staring at pictures of yourself, thatâs for feckinâ certain.â And even if he hadnât been staring at pictures of himself, sheâd still been there longer so it wasnât an untrue statement.Â

âtakes after her dad, doesnât she?â ana said with a teasing smile on her face, since she was probably the only person who could get away with insulting the male without being mauled by his family â mostly. not that she would say anything that was seriously bad. âiâm sure sheâs going to be especially good for her aunt.â though she was a good child who often listened, she was also a child who had harder days than others. those usually consisted of her not getting her nap or being awoken from it like today. once she hugged her ex-sister in law, ana stepped back to close and lock the car. it brought a smile to her lips to see how luna clung to ailbe, head leaning down to rest upon the womanâs shoulder. she had no shortage of strong-willed people who were willing to hang the moon on a lasso if demanded. âso,â ana spoke up when they began to walk to the store, âwhatâs new with you?â
âJust a wee bitâ Ailbe laughed, bouncing her niece on her hip as they walked, âoi, we better hope so, or like her mam,â she winked at her ex-sister in law, letting Luna toy with the necklace she had around her neckâ a crescent moon however unoriginal it may have been. She liked moments like these. When it felt like this family wasnât nearly as...chaotic as it was. There were always moving parts (and people) and to have moments like theseâ unassuming simple ones was something she didnât take for granted. Like holding her niece and going grocery shopping with her friend, because, at the end of the day, despite what happened between her brother and the brunette, Ailbe still considered her one of her closest friends. âNothinâ much, semesterâs started up so of course now Iâm questioning why I even want to do this.â Because it was a lot to handle but...thatâs why Ailbe liked itâ it pushed her mentally in ways most things couldnât. âBut with holidays over I wonâ be working overtime every week at the restaurant.âÂ

hands thrown up in a fake surrender, travis laughed. âthought ya might shoot me!â ( yet heâd still broken in? some might argue he wasnât the brightest there was. ) walking over to her, he wrapped his hands over her shoulders and pulled her into a hug. it wasnât something travis got to do with any of his brothers ( or really wanted to ), but ailbe was his baby sister. heâd do anything for her. he pulled away then walked over to her fridge. travis ducked in and groaned. âneither you or murph have any good food. âs it a twin thing? ya donât eat good?â he shrugged a shoulder at her question as he walked back over. âeâs been begginâ me for ages and⌠kinda fucked up something so hereâs a better place to be.â he doesnât plan to elaborate.
âWish I had,â she rolled her eyes, reluctantly letting herself be drawn into a hug as she held her floured hands away from him, âoi, if ya could wait more than a minute, Iâll actually have something to eat. Murphâs been goneâ probably didnâ think he had stock up on shite, Trav. Iâll let ya mooch off my dinner if thatâll keep ya from whinging about being hungry.â Besides, if anyone was bound to have actual edible food between them, it was her and theyâd both know it.

Unknown: hell no. one trip is enough.
Unknown: Yeah, pa's working me so hard. this is the only down time i've got.
Ailbe: don't be a fucking baby, you literally just sleep for 8 hours or watch a movie.
Ailbe: i'd say good because idle hands do the devil's work but, you know
Ailbe: you already are so
