Ailbe: It's for science. For real. My degree may very well depend on this.

murphy: this does sound like a very scientific thing you'd need to know for your degree.

murphy: let's determine the problem? what are we trying to address here. have we determined the hypothesis? have we at least predicted the outcome of the experiment. what are the list of materials for this experiment? now comes the tricky part we need to explain the procedure. what are the exact steps we followed during our experiment.

murphy: once we do all that than we can actually test out this theory. after we test it out we need to record the results. then together we must sit down and discuss the results. after that we will accept or reject the hypothesis. lastly, include all the errors.

murphy: since this is a science experiment we need to really look at all the details to know.

murphy: i know shit about dating guys or dating for that matter. but i wouldn't jump to assume this hypothetical guy is trying to just get into the hypothetical girls pants. he could be doing this because he's trying to impress the girl?

murphy: the hypothetical girl might get a feeling that the hypothetical guy is trying to just get into her pants. when something is wrong you just get that feeling.

the on thing they never agreed on was movies and TV. murphy always liked the exact opposite of his friend. he knew that they would be staying up all night and the next thing mickey would put on would be something he wouldn’t like. but whatever happened, happened. he wasn’t going to spend the night worrying what shows they’d be watching. “no you will not. yes, that’s exactly what i thought i was paying for. good looks, that’s it.” he laughed.

his face turned bright red, as he was unable to hide the fact he was checking him out. murphy’s love for mickey existed, but it never really went beyond the friendship they shared. plus, he had really strong feelings for cooper. the blonde wanted nothing more than to mess what they had going on. “oh, well. i should change into those.” he gulped as the towel was now removed from mickey’s waist. it wasn’t the first time he saw the other naked. on multiple occasions he found himself in positions where he’d be on top of the other. again, he was doing his best not to make eye contact, but how could he not? everything was just exposed for him to see? he grabbed the pajamas as he started stripping out of his clothes. one thing was for sure he wasn’t uncomfortable being naked in front of the other.

murphy narrowed his eyes, as much as he wanted to be annoyed there was so much truth in that. he always did have a look of being lost. “that’s true.” murphy shrugged on his whereabouts. he’d mostly been out of town going on dates with cooper. keeping his relationship as private as ever. “i’ve gone out on a date with my secret lover.” he laughed it off like a joke, but he was being serious. “no babies from me. ‘m not ready for that now.”

this was a big step for muph hugging mickey. it was something he could acknowledge about his own personal growth. but truth be told, he really did just have a soft spot for the other. “i love you.” he replied softly, letting go of the other. weirdly enough he missed having the other in his arms. but murphy would deny that fact to his best friend. never would he admit that. the blonde rocked on his heels in the doorway. his face twisted at the movie suggestion. even as a child he hated the muppets. the night wasn’t about him at all. it was about mickey. “yeah sure, mate. we’ll watch it.” he agreed. “no, you will not sing.” he joked, as he really liked mickey’s voice.

stupidly if that was a reference to a movie it went right over his head. with a nod he walked away from the door as mickey was getting into a shower. murphy walked into the kitchen cleaning up any of the remains of the white powder. to be extra about the situation he cleaned the counter multiple times even after he knew it was clean. as the other stepped out from the bathroom, murphy’s eyes couldn’t help but linger on his friend for a long time. he tried telling himself not to look and divert his attention elsewhere, but he couldn’t. he sighed softly. “yourself is good. unless you want to get some fast food? we can do that too.”

murphy didn’t mean for him to seem ungrateful or unhappy that his brother took him to the museum. he was more than excited to learn more about everything. there was so much he just needed to know about this. maybe in a place where nobody would be judging. They weren’t even near seagrove. but still the feelings felt the same. as finn places an arm on his shoulder Murphy removed it. even if it was meant to be a boost of confidence he felt none of that. listening to his brother he took a deep breath. He followed his older brother into the museum. right as he was about to pay for his ticket finn paid for them both. Making a mental note he reminded himself he’d pay him back for this. “Nothing you can do will stop me from being afraid. The one time I tried to be myself I ended up getting fucked.” He shook his head not wanting to bring up those memories he buried inside his brain. “I know everyone is more accepting here and I wish I could be one of those people.” He sighed as he felt himself wanting to cry. lately he’s been feeling so much more emotional. “I can’t accept myself finn.” Murphy mumbled. He glanced around at everything in front of him and was amazed. The smile on his lips was very forced as he’d pretended for one day to be comfortable in his own skin.

Murphy had seen a lot of people struggle with addiction. It hurt him even more when it was his best friend hurting. Murphy just wanted to be a positive light through this battle. it wasn’t really a smiling matter but he couldn’t let a small inkling of what sadness he was feeling as he looked at Mickey. Holding another male in his arms was not something he’d do. but this was different then those other times. Mickey really needed a hug, and that was what he was going to do. anything to get his friend out of this dark place was what he was going to do. “What kind of shitty movie did you have in mind?” curious to know what movie he wanted to put on.

Murphy was a little nervous to leave Mickey alone. The blonde kept thinking of things that could happen if he wasn’t in the bathroom with him. though he wanted to give him the privacy Mickey deserved. “you don’t need to thank me. if the situation was reversed I know you’d do the same.” it wasn’t many people he felt would have his back no matter what, but besides his family Mickey was among those. “yeah. Anything else I should get rid of while I clean?” Murphy wanted the house to become a safe space for Mickey once again.
