Like, for the first case, there’s Toya Bday1 where he asks her to come to the roof at lunch to catch Toya’s birthday show and then notes with great amusement how she left immediately after, there’s Mizuki Bday1 where he gets together the Kamikou gang (-Nene +Kohane) to celebrate her birthday in an empty classroom on a weekend so nobody else is around, there’s Cheer Squad where he asks her to come to the afterparty because he reads the cheer squad as a place where both of them have found acceptance, and LSH where he asks her to be a teacher to include her in the group.

For the second case, there’s the Picnic side stories where Rui monitors her coming and going with his drone instead of asking her to come to school so he can make her laugh, an addition to a day she had already resolved to be at school rather than asking her to gather that resolve on his request (this is also because he isn’t sure she’d come on his request/thinks she would straight up reject him if she suspected he was trying to pry into her feelings, which is, warranted), there’s Reverse Hermit ss2 where the drone comes up again and he takes time out of his day to seek her out to talk rather than asking for a chunk of hers, there’s LSH again as Mizuki had to take those supplementary lessons no matter what thus opening her up to the usual fare of her treatment at school, but inviting her to be a teacher for the study group ensures that she’ll at least get to be in a comfortable environment afterwards so the whole experience isn’t a wash (roping her in to his whole making memories ulterior motive lol), there’s that one area convo where he hammily guilt-trips her into attending the supplementary lessons she’s already on her way to by telling her her teacher just had a kid.

For the third case, there’s Mizuki Picnic ss2 in how Rui got Akito with Toya forcibly in tow to fuck off while leaving no room for Mizuki to get away from his demonstration of his latest greatest invention (a button that spits out funny phrases), there’s that area convo where Rui blows something up and a teacher shouts after him and Mizuki says she’s gonna run away before she’s made into an accomplice but Rui traps her in the conversation by dangling the curiosity of what exactly he exploded in front of her, there’s that bit in Hello Good Day where he remarks that Toya should stay on his guard because Mizuki’s very skilled at manipulating people when she shares how she exploited Toya’s kindness to have him carry her books for her.

the new qualifier format is awesome!!! i felt it was a needed change, the old maxout format no longer represented the players' true skill in the lv39 line cap era. i caught all sessions on ct1, and i was shocked to see some top players underperform. coal in particular seemed very troubled, and he was visibly frustrated :(

but on the other hand, my other favorite sidnev is back with a vengeance and was scoring 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8 like it was NOTHING. dog got a 1.9, tt got a 1.4 GOING INTO KILL SCREEN, zrobot the 10 yr old prodigy got a 1.7, and scuti and alex did amazing as usual. meme's session was at the end of the day, and by that point, scuti and alex were occupying the first 2 seeds. meme intentionally topped out on the second to last game and started a new game with 15 seconds to spare, and as a result she got the 2nd seed, which meant alex and scuti were going to be on the same side of the bracket and will have to face each other before the finals!!! a huge upset by my girl!!!

i caught lots of matches on day 2. i was really rooting for sv to upset gwafey since sv is my absolute favorite dark horse player, and he prevailed!!! in style too, with insane dig sequences and dirty center well tetrises!!! meme and sidnev got easy sweeps of course, but dengler got matched up with fractal too early and lost in round 1 and wouldn't get to play meme after he threw his last qualifier just to be in her bracket... oh dengler...

iball vs coal was another heartbreaker, bc while iball is my favorite, coal seemed still very frustrated by his qualifier results and lost ... no coal in the top 16 is a bit surreal, but i welcome the new faces in top 16 this year!! tugi's in it, and so is tt!! two players that i have a soft spot for!! evesy from the uk put up and AMAZING fight against tristop in the top 32, and even though she lost i was astonished by the level of play she showed. so many new faces this year, the competition level is INSANE!!!
