"When I was like 5 or 6 my mom walked in, saw me peeing standing up, and she asked me what I was doing and I said, 'You know, I'm a boy.' And that was met with a lot of anger and violence, and that anger and violence continued throughout my childhood and really forced me to stay in the closet. It wasn't until I was 22 or 23 years old that I finally came out as transgender. I really made a conscious choice to be better to myself and to actually care about myself and make that choice to transition...and not care what other people thought of me because at the end of the day, I just have me. It's an ongoing battle to love myself despite not being respected by society and by the world, and being told that I'm a second class citizen and that I don't deserve these rights and protections that everybody has. No, I won't stop running." -Sawyer Devuyst Hear more stories and share yours at http://www.wontstoprunning.com #wontstoprunning #transgender #equality #loveyourself
