They are not a big company like Ubisoft or EA, which have millions and millions of dollars. They're a small indie company. I'm completely for sticking it to the greedy game companies that decide to steal from you because apparently buying is not owning, and they can take your shit without your permission, but small studios? You’re not bothered?? I’m not only not bothered, I’m freaking invested. I’m having actual empathetic sadness for The Grinch. I want them to go into couple’s counseling. I want the “ten years later” when Tony visits Whoville on business and meets the reformed Grinch whose heart has grown 3 times its usual size. I want them to reminisce over a shared dinner of roast beast and wine, then spend a drunken night together, then realize that maybe things are different and people really do change. I want a 3-act story where there’s a long dark night of soul searching and the realization that maybe we’ve all got a little bit of bad banana with greasy black peel inside us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make a damned fine banana bread if someone will give us a chance.

CHAPTER 2 IS OUT

The immensity of the power of a trained Force-sensitive is incredible.  We spent that entire episode fearing the dark troopers, to the point that just one, even with a suit of beskar armor and a beskar spear, was enough to put Din to the ground, who is an incredible fighter himself.  The amount of looming dread on that bridge, as the dark troopers were beating away at the doors.  And then one lone man appears.  And fuck-off powerful in the Force though Luke Skywalker may be, and he certain is on that level, he is still one person who mowed through those dark troopers like they were nothing, he didn’t so much as break a sweat or start breathing hard.  They were nothing to a trained Jedi like Luke Skywalker. Just the sheer immensity of how powerful a trained Force-sensitive can be, how dangerous they can be, if their abilities aren’t rock solid, if they’re not vigilant with their mental discipline, and that entire bridge was so fucking lucky it was Luke Skywalker, because just imagine what someone of that level of power could do if they weren’t committed to never grabbing power for their own selfish reasons.  That’s why Darth Vader was so terrifying, that’s why the Jedi Order was so committed to having oversight over them, because look what one fuckoff powerful Jedi can do, imagine having 10,000 Jedi Knights that may not be on that level, but they could have ruled the galaxy through sheer power.  It’s easy to see why people can be afraid of them, it’s easy to imagine what that kind of power could be bent to do.  Just the sheer ease that Luke tore through those dark troopers, how do you not fear that he’s going to lose his patience one day and just take the easy route?  Because he could.  And it’s a testament to how incredible the Jedi are that they were so resolute in doing their best not to take power to benefit themselves.

One of the most meaningful reasons to use Luke Skywalker–other than it makes sense story-wise, given Luke’s motivations at this point in the timeline–furthers all of this.  He and Grogu are similar, they are both fuck off powerful in the Force.  This is why the mentions of Anakin in “The Jedi” are so important as well, because Anakin was also just fuck off powerful in the Force and he fell prey to his feelings and attachments (the desire to own people, beyond just loving them, he was afraid to live without them and would do anything to stop it). Luke, having struggled to overcome all that anger and fear in The Empire Strikes Back, Luke struggling to overcome his anger and hurt in the current Star Wars ongoing comic, Luke struggling not to be consumed by his hate and his rage that has him furiously hacking away at Vader when Leia and his friends are threatened. Luke Skywalker knows what it’s like to have the kind of power that would terrify people and Luke Skywalker knows what it’s like to struggle with anger and hate and fear.  Luke Skywalker also knows what internal strength being a Jedi gives him and why that discipline and mental clarity are so important. Using Luke Skywalker, someone we have seen struggle with all of this and turn to the Jedi ways time and again, someone who has a similar power level of Grogu, someone who has a similar power level to Anakin Skywalker, shows why Grogu must learn to control himself, because look what a fuck off powerful Force-sensitive can do to the galaxy.  Luke Skywalker (and his father before him) demonstrate that so incredibly clearly through just how easily he defeats those dark troopers.  We saw Grogu already has some abilities, he may get sleepy very quickly, but look what he did to that mudhorn, look what he did to Cara Dune, look what he did to the Stormtroopers.  Already Grogu can lay waste to grown men and women and hugely powerful animals in his fear and fury. And no one in the galaxy is better equipped to handle than that Luke Skywalker, if Grogu actually wants to control himself, no one can help him more right now. That doesn’t mean Grogu won’t come back to Din someday, but right now, of course Grogu wants to learn to control this tremendous power, if for no other reason than look what keeps happening to him because he was born with this ability.
