I've been rewatching ER and seeing how many people go up to surgery/how many surgeries they seem to have going on at one time, got me wondering how much of the population actually ends up having some type of surgery in their lifetime!

1: only choose elective over fixing an issue if you actually did it electively. So you didn't need to have it done, you just wanted to for cosmetic reasons (some people get new noses, some people legitimately have deviated septums that cause breathing issues. Some people get face lifts to get rid of wrinkles, some have skin sagging over their eyes that makes it hard to see. No judgement! Just be sure you choose appropriately!)

#the fun one: top surgery #the not fun one: the lumbo-sacral hemi-vertebra excision with fusion of L4 and L5 #in English: I had an extra piece of bone in my spine #that got removed #and I have two rods and four screws keeping me together #and also keeping me in chronic pain lmao #which means I bounced back from my wisdom teeth remarkably quick

#I used to have CRAZY mood swings and generally be all over the place pre-T #but I’ve been on a daily gel since I started… uh… 8??? years ago??#damn time flies #anyway it grounded me and chilled me out significantly #biggest difference is I was a huge stress cryer and now I can’t really cry at all #and my emotional range became less nuanced #but despite new heads of the anxiety hydra rearing up I’m SO much more mellow
