If u were to actually organize all the events i do think theres a very equitable distribution of torture. i dont think its a fair assessment to say black characters are being especially brutalized when lestat has been redesigned to have permanent giant scars and the season premiere has lestat w his throat sawn into and is very visibly wrecked with bloody wounds when his mom shows up in a manner paralleling the time she sexually assaulted him to imply the dynamic currently happening. lestat is endlessly torturing himself while being casually violated by others (larry kissing him, the fang gang glory hole) but its framed as glamorous (or for laughs, like recording in the sun) and his decision therefore is less immediately appalling

This entire season is about the exploitation of lestat body. One which he arguably welcomes; he chose to saunter around shirtless on stage and communicate himself so seductively. Its what people argue in their entitlement to his body, beginning from his two makers. Theres the constant motif of hands touching and reaching for him, all made the more nauseating by his embrace of it. Lestats receptiveness to being sexualized as reasonable replacements to love, as shaped by his first models of love. Thats Horrific, and We See magnus and gabriella assault him.

Louis beheading is horrific but is intentional and in vein equal to the horror doled out by this show. It serves as proof of the unjustness of armands demand for an apology as well as tying louis to lestat. The head on a stake is a callback to s1 louis mentioning what happens to the runaway slaves in jackson park, and is presented in conversation with the sexually abused women being burnt for speaking out; you are being punished for what happened to you, and punished for trying to move on from it.

As lestat is when the revenge porn leaks, and when Louis calls him sick.

The show establishes the beheading as incredible injustice via its comparison to the witches, and the whole butcher shop is relevant because just as lestat is constantly accused of, didn’t louis do something to deserve this? Didnt the raped girl forsake her prayer, didnt lestat ask for it? What did louis do to make his abuser do this? Thematically, as he is in all other ways, louis is lestats partner.

the beheading is a direct nod to when in the books armand tells louis that before he killed claudia he cut off her head and sewed onto an adult body. lies, but we cant be sure.

also i have no idea about why people are so stuck on beheading as some sort of extreme gore/horror factor???? maybe yall dont watch other way more fucked up shows somehow??? that really did not stand out to me
