moving to pillowfort.io
Hello all! I’ve been trying out Pillowfort the last few days and enjoying it mightily. If you’re there, come find me: afigureofspeech. I’ve also started three communities: fairytales, fantasybooks, and AhsokaTano.
If you’ve never heard of it, Pillowfort is trying to become fandom’s alternative to tumblr. It’s bringing back forum-style comments/discussions and communities a la LJ and increasing user’s control over their content such as the ability to make a post unrebloggable or visible only to mutuals. If you change something on your post, all reblogs automatically change to match, and if you delete it, all reblogs are also deleted. The ToS specifically forbids hatespeech and hategroups, among other toxic behavior, and the staff has purposefully utilized crowdfunding so as to avoid being beholden to shareholders with interests that may directly conflict with the needs of the userbase. There are lots of other features designed specifically in answer to fandom’s complaints about tumblr, with a whole list of features to be added.
If it sounds like I’m majorly plugging this site, I am. I want this to succeed, and I want my friends to join me. I want to blog again, because I can never quite seem to get back into tumblr.
If you missed the Kickstarter, Pillowfort is still accepting PayPal donations for invitation keys. For every $5 you donate you’ll get one invitation key. If you want to check it out first, you can log in on the demo account to poke around and take a look at the site FAQ.
