alicent being forced to choose between saving aegon or saving helaena in the exact same way that helaena was forced to choose between saving jaehaerys or saving jaehaera, and making the exact same choice helaena did to save her daughter, because the truth is that there is no saving her son no matter what she tries to do... the writers ate this one lil thing because the parallels are paralleling

truly have lost all desire to even attempt critiquing the show. they've strayed too far from the book, any event going forward is so far removed from its original context it will be meaningless to even compare the two. Helaena's death? who knows. Daemon's death? they gutted his story and removed the most important character to his arc. Alicent? the writers' oc, 0 similarities to book Alicent. Rhaenyra? honestly who tf knows they spent a whole season flip flopping on her being a savior, erasing her season 1 characterization, and the bulk of her screen time was complaining how no one listened to her despite having nothing of substance to say. its not even about team bias anymore, its about why they chose to adapt the Dance of the Dragons if they don't even like the actual story/characters.

why are we only hearing about rhaena claiming a dragon, they’ve spent so much time and money on so many trivial things but we couldn’t get ONE SCENE OF RHAENA TRyING TO CLAIM ANY OF THE DRAGONS AND NEARLY LOOSING HER LIFE AT ONLY 14????!??!???? AND HAVE NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT WHAT ARE WE DOING HBO?!?!?!?!!!!

my one and only sansa opinion i think is that everyone within the story who has repeatedly told her that she's stupid and wrong to have dreams and want good things for herself, then made this 'naivety' out to be the reason for her victimisation by the selfish ambitions of men and women around her and the readers who interpret her character like this, are wrong. that is, i don't accept the premise of a young girl being punished for her innocence and idealism and said qualities being something that needs to be crushed to give birth to a more hardened mindset because the world is a cruel place etc. like that message might belong in a nihilistic series but asoiaf is not that. sansa to me, is a character defined by her idealism and that needs to be cherished. i don't want her to end the series as a skilled player of 'the game' or as a schemer or a stone cold competent manipulator or whatever, i want littlefinger to be proven wrong. when he told her yes, it's all lies and lies and lies (except for you and me of course!) and that she was wrong to dream of a better world. he was lying.

everything op said but if i may i'll just add that to me sansa is the reader. we are reading a fantasy book with our heads filled with the fairy tales of previous fantasy works we've read and we think the good always prevails and the knights are all valiant and the queens and king are always just but we come to horrible realisations together with sansa and our worldview changes with hers. to me it's about our escapism as much as the importance of hope and idealism

I'm sorry but Alicent going camping and floating in the water for "symbolism reasons" just broke immersion for me like the Dowager Queen let alone any highborn lady is just gonna fuck off outside their walls with a single knight as protection in the midst of what's supposed to be a massively destructive war as if common people aren't on the move everywhere and lawlessness has most certainly taken hold aka groups of bandits and others wouldn't be dangerously close at all times and her life wouldn't be just extremely at risk. Like sorry it makes a pretty gif but it's unnecessary and stupid and frankly a waste of screen time in a short season when all these characters are underdeveloped and so little has happened.

IT'S JUST SO GOOD that he specifically mentions rhaenyra's "silver haired" bastards when he refers to the dragonseeds....well yeah! what happens when aegon and viserys grow up looking every bit targaryen and rhaenyra dies? what happens to jace? YOU ARE MY HEIR. does she know? does she even know? her perplexed face!!! rhaenyra's like "why would jace bring this now?" it's both wonderful and awful that she fully doesn't see jace as a bastard but just as her son. jace didn't know what to say either....they are trying to communicate for the first time in their LIVES but can't say a single word about it. did the conqueror's dream foretell that? kill me kill me kill me
