This is why Microsoft refuses to let you say no permanently and "reminds you in 3 days," this is why AI """"artists"""" keep stealing from artists, this is why websites make you go through 14 menus to turn off tracking cookies.
It all ties back to not respecting others' autonomy and consent, which is part of rape culture.
Everything about the modern day culture of tech going back to the origination of silicon valley and the rise in startups that gave it that moniker, is deeply rooted in ignoring consent and forcing their will on others. From ads on the internet, to the slow encroachment of targeted ad algorithms and the dragnets that power them, to especially dark patterns designed explicitly to make saying no harder if not impossible.
