I have finally come to accept

That the warmth of the sunset

Only brings forth the cold of the night.

The warmth that I felt when you and I met

The cold that tore through me the moment you left

I realized that was what sunset felt like.

I loved you in the dusks and the dawns

The love that was with me, the love that is gone

The love I could never forget.

I loved you from our first day to our last

The love of my present, then my past

Love’s only mistake is regret.

The day that I told you I was scared of the silence

You held me and you made me feel less

Afraid of the things I could fear.

But the same exact fears that you silenced

Have not at all left my mind since

The day our love disappeared.

I miss you a little, I won’t deny it

I miss you although I try to hide it

I miss you more than I’d like to admit.

All I have now is the memory

Of the pieces you left inside of me

Still broken the way that you left it.
