he loves pretending to be someone else. he figures he accidentally did spend a lot of his life "acting" like someone he wasn't, plus he tends to mask a lot unknowingly so the roleplaying thing actually isn't as difficult as he thought. so once he knows he likes it, and is also good at it, it's something they do quite a lot.
one of shane's favorite scenarios they roleplay is that he's a virgin rookie and ilya is his captain. and the whole concept stems from shane's objectification kink ((that he lowkey thinks he invented.))
