Bob yawned as he stepped out of his en suite, his hair still a tad damp and his eyes already growing heavy. They’d gotten back from the event pretty late. Late enough that him and John actually went back to their own showers because they were too exhausted for even quick sex.
Truthfully, Bob didn’t think he would see John again that night. Not unless he sought him out, at least. He figured John would crash on his own bed after his shower and that would be that. But no. A smile broke on his face when he saw John, comfortably settled on Bob’s mattress.
John was lying on his stomach, elbows propped up on Bob’s pillows as he stared at his phone. For once, he didn’t seem to be doomscrolling but rather looking at posts about a show they both liked. He looked peaceful, content, cozy, and like he was taking up Bob’s entire fucking bed.
“Hey,” said Bob, his happiness audible in his voice. He really was glad to see John. It really did mean a lot that he was in there. “You look tired.”
“Me?” John chuckled and glanced at Bob, gaze flickering to his unbrushed curls. “You look like you’re about to fall over.”
“In my defense, my overprotective boyfriend made me take my meds on schedule even though we were out of the house.”
“Yeah, yeah. Come lay down with me.”
But lay down where? John was seriously sprawled out across Bob’s entire bed, his arms blocking Bob’s pillows entirely. And he wasn’t even lying on his back where Bob could cozy up on his chest. There was nowhere for Bob to get comfortable. Nothing for him to use as a pillow. Well, except…
He tilted his head, biting his tongue to hide a mischievous smile as he crawled on the bottom half of the mattress. John was on top of the blankets dressed only in his red plaid boxers, his perfect, round ass practically begging for Bob to lay his head down on top of it.
So, he did. Bob curled himself into a comfortable position and rested his head right on John’s butt, a contented sigh falling from his lips as he settled into the soft flesh. The fabric was thin and he could feel John’s warmth, smell the lingering scent of fresh laundry and crisp air from that soap he used with the football on it.
“What are you doing?” asked John, his tone more amused than anything else. He looked at Bob over his shoulder, one brow raised, a hand reaching back to tousle Bob’s hair.
“You’re using all the pillows,” Bob mumbled. He grabbed a blanket from the edge of the mattress, pulled it over himself, and snuggled in deeper. He wrapped his arm around John’s thigh and hugged it close, then pressed a light kiss to his left ass cheek. “Goodnight.”
“Wait, you can’t just—” Bob let his eyes drift shut so he couldn’t see it when John tried to turn around, but he could feel it. He laughed beneath his breath when John groaned and flopped back down on his stomach. “This really isn’t a comfortable way to sleep.”
“Speak for yourself. I’ve never been comfier.”
“Yeah, ‘til I roll over in my sleep and crush you.”
Bob squeezed John’s thigh closer. “I would be honored to be crushed by your ass.”
Apparently, John had no comeback for that. Bob didn’t hear one more word from his boyfriend before he drifted off to sleep, perfectly cozy on his new favorite headrest.
okay wait hear me out. pre-relationship. bob has not told anyone about his migraines. when they happen, he just isolates himself and waits it out. no one thinks much of it because it's very normal for him to lock himself in his room for a day or two here and there. yelena checks in to make sure he's eating and everything but otherwise they just let him be.
then one day john is walking past bob's room when he hears coughing. he knocks on the door to ask if bob is okay and what he hears is a soft sound of pain. concerned, he goes inside to find bob is curled against the wall in his en suite, all the lights off. he's covering his ears, his eyes are shut tight, his is face pale, and tears are streaming down his cheeks.
normally, bob wouldn't say anything. he didn't want anyone to know about his migraines. but he's in so much pain that he just doesn't have it in him to fight. john asks what's going on and bob mumbles enough to explain that it's a migraine, that he's having really bad vertigo, that he needs john to be quiet because every little sound is like searing pain.
and what is john supposed to do? walk away? leave bob to suffer alone? no. he practically carries bob back to his bed, moving as slow as he needs. he gets bob a cool cloth for his forehead and a bottle of water and a light snack. one thing leads to another and somehow he's lying down with bob and bob's head is on his shoulder and john's having a bisexual panic but he can't leave because bob finally looks kind of comfortable.

It was supposed to be a fairly uneventful mission and ,for once, it had lived up to their expectations.
It had been a long, boring, one but they had made it home alive and the bad guys had been defeated.
"Well done," Val said on the phone with Lena. "Now you can get your asses home."
John sat down on the jet's seats with a sigh. He let Bucky fly, for once, with Yelena co-piloting, and sat in the back with the rest of the group.
He clenched and unclenched his left hand a couple of times, removing his leather glove with a groan.
Bob's eyes, sitting across from him, hadn't left him for a second.
He still looked so beautiful in his golden suit, after all these years. The days of Void terrorizing New York were long gone and, not without a lot of practice and therapy, he had finally been able to come on missions with them for some time now.
A part of him wanted to brag unabashedly that the wonderful being who hovered above them in his golden suit had been so magnanimous as to choose him as his companion, every day for the past five years.
That wonderful being whom everyone knew as the Sentry, the golden guardian of good, was simply Bob to him, and he had been his husband for a couple of months now.
This was the first mission they had been on since returning from their honeymoon.
Three weeks on a hot Pacific island where their only concern was avoiding sunburn (at least for John).
But now they were back to reality, to the monsters and evil men who threatened humanity, and to minor inconveniences.
John liked his suit.
It was tight enough to be like a second skin, it followed him in every move, and it was made of the thickest, finest leather he had ever felt.
He had a helmet for missions and a Beret that he wore mostly for the publicity bullshit Val made him do.
It was a small compromise in exchange for completely new equipment. Val had spared no expense and had put the best scientists at OXE at their service.
His old shield, for example, was made of the same metal as tanks. John had built it himself and it was a solid, durable material that had served him well in all those years of honorable service, at least until his adorable husband had reduced him to a damned Taco.
Now his shield was made of Vibranium, as were Bucky's arm, Alexei's shield, and Sam's, thirty times lighter and at least as durable as his old friend.
The armory in their tower was mind-blowing. Six walls filled with everything he'd ever needed.
His own suit had been remade, still following the original design so that it was similar but not entirely to his old Captain America costume.
His teammates' suits had also undergone the same redesign. Val's scientists had worked with Ava, and she now had a much thinner suit she could wear under her clothes, leaving her old, bulky suit for combat only.
Bob's new golden suit had been designed to follow him in every transformation and adapt to the breadth of his powers.
The same fate had befallen Alexei's suit, with the man protesting that "Red Guardian didn't need it, he was already perfect as It was."
An "A" had appeared on everyone's suit, perhaps the one small detail that truly made them a team.
John had never had any problems with his suit, not even with the old one the government had given him when he became Cap.

"Same old thing," John said, then raised his voice to be heard from the cockpit. "If only someone hadn't broken my arm."
"For the umpteenth time," Bucky said, sighing. "I'm sorry, Walker. Have you tried what I said?"
To be fair, his relationship with Bucky had improved a lot. But he still believed he had at least a small pass to tease Bucky until the end of their supersoldier days.
He'd even taught him a taping technique that had helped him greatly ease the pain. Bob had learned it alongside him and was usually his go-to nurse.
"Yeah, but we left so fast I didn't have time to put it on," John said. "But it's okay, I just need to get home and take a shower."
In response, he received a small orange tube in his lap.
Facing them, Alexei smiled at them with a thumbs up.
“Lena always keeps tube of super soldier painkillers in first aid kit,” he said. “Just don’t take it with vodka, just a friendly tip.”
“No need,” Bob said, smiling.
He placed a hand on his wrist and closed his eyes, the familiar warmth of Bob’s powers radiating up his shoulder, giving him instant relief.
The fact that his husband had the ability to heal wounds was very useful in these cases.
He crossed his legs over his with a satisfied smile, smiling at how John’s face had finally relaxed.
“Thank you, Mr. Walker,” John said, kissing him.
“My pleasure, Mr. Walker,” Bob said, kissing him back.
The kiss was abruptly interrupted by a towel thrown at his face by someone to their right.
“You've been unbearable ever since you got back,” Ava said. “Tell me you won't always be like this now that you're married.”
“We can't promise that,” Bob said, laughing. “And besides, I did it so you have no excuse to take off your ring.”
“It only happened once,” John said.
“Please,” Lena said from the cabin, “you didn't even tell me about this.”
“His arm hurt while we were away, too, and instead of asking me for help, since he has a husband who can literally heal anything, he thought it best to put some stupid arnica on it and take off the ring, leaving it on the nightstand. Result? A waiter hit on him, not seeing the ring. I can't even go to the bathroom without worrying.”
“He was just being very kind,” John said, shrugging.
“Yeah, so nice he kept staring at your ass as we left.”
“Well, that’s his problem,” said John. “I have an owner now.”
He raised his left hand and pointed to his wedding ring, just for emphasis.
“That’s right, I don’t like people trying to steal my stuff,” said Bob.
“You’re impossible,” said John, laughing.
“Welcome to your next life,” said Bob. “You’re the one who wanted to marry me.”
“Best thing I’ve ever done in my life,” said John, kissing his nose. “This and my son, of course.”
Bob smiled slightly.
The two kissed again, receiving yet another towel in return.

So I know the common troupe in sentryagent is that Bob is (mostly) comfortable with his sexuality and has had many sexual experiences with men (and sometimes women depending on if the person headcanons him as gay or bi) and John is very repressed and either unaware of his sexuality or actively denying it, and in general I usually have that headcanon too, but I was thinking today on what if it was the opposite.
John is aware he is bi, it has been something he has known his entire relationship with Olivia. He doesn't talk about it partially from being from the South and being in the military and mostly because he thinks its nobody's business. Like maybe in their relationship John was comfortable talking about how other men are attractive to Olivia. Or they went on break for a bit and he had some sexual experiences with some men at Westpoint. He's comfortable with it even though he doesn't bring it up.
And then there is Bob. His father was incredibly abusive and extremely homophobic. He would go into extremely homophobic rants and Bob ended up internalizing a lot of it. Once Bob looked at another boy the wrong way and was punished several for it and after that his brain fully repressed any attraction to men as a way of protecting him. Eventually he did leave home and was on his own in the throes of his drug addiction and maybe he had a few sexual experiences with women that didn't go well, but he just chalked it up to the drugs messing with his libido. So he was mostly just on his own until he ended up in Malaysia.
And now, they are on a team together. And Bob keeps finding himself taking glances at John without realizing--noticing the firmness of his body, the blueness of his eyes, how soft his hair looks--and feels incredibly anxious but doesn't really know why. And maybe there is a part of his brain that is telling him that he should be looking at Yelena or maybe Ava--they are both pretty and strong and funny, he should be attracted to them, because that is how it's supposed to go. Yet somehow he is so relieved when he finds out that Ava is a lesbian and Yelena is aroace, that the option to be with them isn't there.
But that relief is promptly thrown out the window the second John reveals that he is bi. To be fair everyone is shocked, but John is so nonchalant about it, like he had told them his favorite color is red instead of shattering Bob's entire perception of him.
Now Bob can't seem to stay away from John, constantly tracking with his eyes or catching a whiff of his scent. And he hates himself for it, even though he doesn't quite know why.
