hey mutuals do this it's fun
have a nice day
girls!!! we gotta fail more often!!! weāre so scared of failure and disappointing people and looking stupid that we donāt even TRY things! men?? men brush off failure like itās nothing! if a man doesnāt get a job he wanted, itās because they didnāt review his application fairly! itās because the competition was tough this year! itās because he just needs to try harder next time! men just DO things!!! and you know what DOING things builds?? confidence!!! even if you fail!! the more you fail, the more confident you are that you can fail and survive! women donāt even wanna try unless they are 100% certain that theyāre qualified and competent and wonāt disappoint anybody! but that is NONSENSE. men are out there getting positions theyāre not even qualified for, while over-qualified but less-confident women are staying where itās safe bc theyāre afraid to rock the boat!!! DO. IT. apply for the thing! ask for the raise! enter the competition! get used to failing ALL the time! fail quickly and move on!!! if a cocky but mediocre man would do it, then for the love of god, GO DO THE DAMN THING. you are SO much more qualified than you think you are.
I LOVE YOU
this post physically cured me
iāve been doing my homework on how to break into a writing career and honestly. thereās a Lot that i didnāt know about thats critical to a writing career in this day and age, and on the one hand, its understandable because weāre experiencing a massive cultural shift, but on the other hand, writers who do not have formal training in school or donāt have the connections to learn more via social osmosis end up extremely out of loop and working at a disadvantage.Ā
like, i didnt know about twitter pitch parties!! i didnt know about literary agents and publishers tweeting their manuscript wishlist, in hopes that some poor soul out there has written the book they really want to read and publish!! this isnt some shit you learn about in school! you really need to know the ins and outs of the writing community to be successful!Ā
for anyone interested, hereās what iāve learned so far in my quest for more writing knowledge:
1. Writerās Market 2019 is a great place to startā it gives you a list of magazines and journals that you can send your work to depending on the genre as well as lists a shit ton of literary agents that specify what genres they represent, how you can get in contact with them and how they accept query letters. this is a book that updates every year and tbh i only bought it this year so i dont know how critical it is to have an updated version Ā
2. do your research. mostly on literary agents because if you listed on your site that you like to represent fluffy YA novels and some asshole sends you a 80k manuscript about likeā¦gritty viking culture, you will be severely pissed off. always go in finding someone who you know will actually like your work because theyāre the ones who will try to advocate for you in getting published.
3. learn how to write a query letter. there are slightly varying formulas to how you can write an effective query letter. youāre also going to want to get feedback on your query letter because its the first thing the literary agent will read and based on how well you do it, it could be the difference between them rejecting you outright and giving your manuscript a quick read
4. unfortunately, youāre gonna want to get a twitter. Twitter is where a lot of literary agents are nowadays, and they host things like twitter pitch parties, where you pitch your manuscript in a few sentences and hashtag it with #Pitmad #Pitdark, some version of pit. a lot of literary agents and publishers will ALSO post their manuscript wishlists, which is just the kind of books theyād like to represent/publish, and they hashtag this with #MSWL (it is NOT for writers to use, only for agents/publishers)
5. connect with other writers, literary agents, publishers at book events. you will absolutely need the connections if you want to get ahead as a writer. thats just kind of the state of the world.
do you ever want to stockpile your own blood over the course of a few years and then just go around and start spreading it everywhere before mysteriously disappearing, leaving suspicious amounts of blood throughout the city and turning your whole town into a crime scene which no one can adequately explain outside of somehow being murdered simultaneously at like eight taco bells?
i have never been okay once in my life

Okay, hot take? Bisexual and pansexual are functionally synonyms, and the decision to ID as one or the other comes down to personal preference and interpretation, and any attempt to further separate the two is driving a wedge between two communities that should have nothing but love and solidarity for one another.Ā
We have more in common than not, and the words for our respective identities should not be pitted against each other.Ā
Yeah with overlapping identities like this I just go for whichever one I like the pride flag the most.
Thatās so valid.Ā
There is a distinction between pansexual and bisexual but it is a very fine line, so fine that people who fit the definition for pansexual better may ID as bisexual instead for a variety of personal reasons and vice versa. But there is a distinction and acting like they are perfect synonyms can be quite invalidating.
Bisexual - attraction to multiple genders where gender is a factor within the attraction, and can include a preference for one gender over another, or attraction that feels different when itās directed at a specific gender.
Pansexual- attraction to people regardless of gender. Gender is not a factor, youād expect a blanket sensation of attraction regardless of which gender it is attracted to, and no sense of intuitive gender preference (though perhaps a logical one).
Notice that neither of these definitions actually exclude transgender or non-binary people and arguing otherwise is biphobic and transphobic. But there is still a distinction - practically, the issues they face and the relationships they will end up in are the same, but emotionally and subjectively they feel different.
Me reading the first post: I totally agree 100% quit telling me that calling myself bisexual means Iām transphobic
Me reading post four: OH I never heard that distinction before. Being attracted to masculine ppl DOES feel different to me than being attracted to feminine ppl. It never occurred to me that pansexual people experienced attraction different from me in that way. Today I have learned something.
Wow this article came out swinging
Cishets: ugh gay people are everywhere itās us who are the real minority now!

where the fuck did the movies get the idea that dwarves arenāt classy? various dwarves in the books are shown to introduce themselves with a formal āat your serviceā and a bow, wax poetic about the natural beauty of caves, and spend hours talking about their family history to people who already know it.
and in the movies theyāre supposed to be rude and messy? why though? is it because the elves are graceful and they have a rivalry with them? the rivalry between the dwarves and the elves is based on centuries of political tension, not some āuncouth vs stuck-upā kids show feud.
The films are pro-elf propaganda
