As an actual karate teacher, I fully endorse this message. Traditional karate means defending yourself. In any situation.

This means that you are able to define your boundaries and defend yourself from anyone crossing the line.

I “used my karate” just by standing up and yelling at a fellow teenager for stealing my food and invading my personal space.

I “used my karate” to shove back after being pushed. I was not allowed to do so, after all, I was a neat girl that should act as one.

Mind you, I never actually fought. I won battles before they started. Ensuring mutt boundaries was enough to make people back off.

But stating those boundaries.. when you are that little it’s impossible without proper guidance from loving parents.

With respect, the world could look very different.

It’s very important to learn to enforce your boundaries and teach your children, especially your daughters, to enforce their boundaries and stand up for themselves.

Certain Martial Arts styles can do this as part of the training and philosophy.
