On this day last year 23-year-old Korryn Gaines was killed by Baltimore County police and her 5-year-old son was shot in the limb.

She was wanted for a traffic violation, but apparently a SWAT team thought she was way too dangerous for them to try and arrest her without fatally shooting her.

I still think about Korryn a lot.

I don’t really know why this is affecting me the way it is. I feel a sorrow deep in my bones. I mourn her.

And I did not know her. I did not follow her on Instagram. I had put Glee far far behind me. I had moved on.

But still, as I awoke to Heather’s story that morning (time difference) it hit me hard.

Since then I have had an ache in my body. A need to cry at every other moment.

I was taken back to my days obsessed with Glee/Brittana.

I remember feeling part of a community even though I was a lurker at most in the community that was created.

I did not write anything, but still, I felt like a part of it.

I followed online when the cast was filming in New York and everybody was trying to spot Heather and Naya on the surveillance camera.

I felt their connection deep in me, it made me happy in a way I can’t explain. Brittana made me happy in a way I can’t explain.
