Things you might need to hear today:
—someone, somewhere, is thinking about you right now
—what you’ve gone through might be the inspiration someone else needs to make it through as well
—your smile will light up someone else’s day
—the things you say about yourself CAN and WILL affect those around you. Be kind to yourself
—even the little things are a blessing. Cherish that morning cup of coffee
—tomorrow is a new day
—you don’t have to change for anybody. Change for yourself
—don’t be so strict with yourself. You want that chocolate bar? Eat it. You deserve it
—even now, someone misses you
—you aren’t expected to answer for everything you’ve done. Not everybody deserves the time of day from you
—you are allowed to cut people out of your life. Think about how YOU feel. Their happiness is NOT your priority
—this one is hard: you can’t fix others. All you can do is promise to be there for them. They have to be willing to get better on their own
—if someone upsets you, tell them. Chances are they have no idea, and they might be willing to hear you out. Your feelings matter
—you don’t have to please everyone. Did they call you a name? Block them.
—in the same way, you won’t be able to make everyone happy. Someone will always be offended. Don’t bend yourself backwards trying to please everyone
—you aren’t perfect. That isn’t an insult, it’s a reminder. You’re allowed to mess up
—don’t be afraid to ask a friend for help. If they care, they will listen. Allow yourself to be vulnerable
—your feelings are valid. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise
—is social media making you anxious? Get off of it. Go outside, read a book, make a snack. You aren’t required or expected to be online 24/7
—see a post you don’t like? Ignore it
—don’t allow someone to make you feel guilty for an honest mistake
—men, you are allowed to cry. That does not make make you weak
—everyone is beautiful. Find some part about you that you don’t hate. You like your eye color? Don’t you forget it
—if you miss one day, don’t sweat it. There is no reason to anguish over a missed work out or a forgotten run. You can always resume tomorrow
—cherish those still moments. Let the sun shine on your face
—allow yourself to make mistakes. Learn from them. We can’t always get it right the first time
—make time for the things you care about. Don’t forget that you’re human too
—speak up about your individual needs. Do you need physical contact? Make that known. Ask for it. Often times people are willing to meet you in the middle
—know your limits
—set boundaries with people. Make it clear where you draw the line. Call people out when they cross that line. That does not make you a horrible person
—you shouldn’t have to apologize for asking for space, or calling people out, or setting boundaries. Those are valid
—therapy does NOT make you weak. Feelings do NOT make you weak. Crying does NOT make you weak
—you are NEVER to blame for your trauma. It happens no matter what clothes you wear, or what choices you make. Remember that
—a joke isn’t a joke if it’s at someone’s expense. Whether they “deserve” it or not
—it isn’t up to you to decide who’s innocent and who’s guilty
—a smile can change someone’s day
—you deserve to be happy
—hang in there one more day. You can’t miss the new episode of that tv show you love
—find something every day that you can’t lose. Remember them. Make them your reasons to live
—if you hold in negative emotions too long, you will explode. Find a healthy way to release that tension
—nobody else can discover your identity except for you. Explore it. Change it. Experiment with it
—you can be friends with someone you don’t always agree with
—additionally, you can be respectful to someone you don’t like
—you can agree with someone and still acknowledge that they make mistakes
—don’t feel guilty for canceling plans. If you don’t want to go, you don’t have to
—just because someone says something about you doesn’t make it true. You choose what is and isn’t true
—you aren’t in charge of them. The only thing you can control is your reaction
—you’re going to get hurt. Be aware of that. Open your heart knowing that you will be vulnerable, and people will take advantage of you. You will find someone who won’t do that. So stay vigilant
—listen to music. It is scientifically proven to make you feel happy
—drink water
—dance around your living room because nobody is watching
—did you get out of bed this morning? Celebrate that
—recovery isn’t a straight line, and it isn’t the same for everyone. Every step forward can result in a step back. Don’t be distraught. You will make progress soon enough
—your past does not define you
—we can’t be happy without being sad. We can’t know peace without knowing turmoil. You will have your chance
—you don’t have to manage your problems alone. Your friends are waiting to share your burden. Let them
—above all, forgive. We’re all learning, just like you
—I care. I love you. I’m proud of you. You’re doing amazing
