AroAces are especially erased with this rhetoric. Of course they're more focused on other things. You're more focused on literally everything when you don't experience sexual or romantic attraction.

Like I get the point the allos are trying to make. "When they complete their goal, they'll start showing interest." But it's never a goal that'll be like... complete. Like "Oh, she's more focused on becoming a knight." But then when she is a knight she'll still be more focused on being a knight. Like you're acting like life goals aren't goals that are intended to expand across your entire life.

And if you do really experience attraction. Your life goals wouldn't get in the way of that. You'd find relationships that fit with your dreams (just like you find friendships that fit with your dreams).

Anyway, this is an asexual who wants to remind aromantics that they are loved and supported and that their representation is valued.

Moreover, just wanna give a wave to the agender folks. No one is talking about you for some reason even though you can be considered just as important under the aspec umbrella as aros and aces. Just wanna use this day of discourse to attempt to remind people agender folks exist.

And fellow asexuals- you do not have a free pass on aphobia directed at aromantics. If you are ace and alloromantic, like me, you are not suddenly better or not capable of doing/saying something that could harm the aro community. Take this day to remind yourself who your community is, who you’re fighting side by side with.

As someone who has been identifying as ace for about ten years now, I thought I'd put this together to help out my fellow aces with a handy rundown of how to choose an ace ring.

For those who don't know, an ace ring is a black ring worn on the right hand, usually the middle finger, to lowkey signal one's aceness. It can be any kind of black ring, but some materials are better than others, and that's what I want to talk about.

If you're an ace looking for a ring or an ally looking to buy one for an ace, here are the kinds you are likely to find:

Tungsten

The vast majority of black rings you search for are going to be some kind of tungsten ring.

Pros:

easy to find

widest variety of styles

rich black color

won't break

Cons:

heavy

requires special technique to get off in an emergency

Steel

Pros:

can be easily cut off in an emergency, unlike tungsten

has a normal ring weight

not likely to break

Cons:

usually more of a chrome-black than a proper black

less common

not as many styles available

Fiber

Pros:

soft and light

cheap

easier to get the right fit

wide variety of styles available

Cons:

easy to break

will get dirty and stay dirty very easily

seriously, the wet bandaid effect is real

Plastic

Pros:

very cheap

very easy to get off in an emergency

light

Cons:

breaks easily

not a lot of stylish variety

difficult to be sure if it's a safe plastic

Silicon

Pros:

stretchy and light

cheap

very safe

more likely to fit well

Cons:

pretty much only available in plain bands

and jefferson, who has a son around spiderman’s age, can’t ignore the impulse to make sure he’s okay

so he finds his way to spiderman’s perch and settles down next to him

they sit in silence for a long time, spiderman staring up at the moon in thoughtful silence

it’s almost five minutes before he finally speaks

“i was there, you know”

jefferson doesn’t understand

spiderman hugs his leg to his chest, resting his cheek on his knee as he turns his face to the officer sitting at his side

“when peter died,” he says by way of explanation, and his voice is wavering with the threat of tears. “i’d only had my powers for a day, and i was so scared. i had no idea what was happening to me. but then he showed up.”

jefferson is baffled, his whole world turned on its axis. somehow, he’d never thought about who spiderman had been before he was spiderman. there was a part of him that had just kind of assumed he’d been different from birth. a part of him had bought into the lie that spiderman was indestructible, that he had always known what he was doing and who he was.

“he said he’d teach me,” says spiderman, voice bitter with longing. “he promised he’d show me the ropes and be there for me when i needed him. and then he died.”

“i’m sorry you had to experience that,” says jefferson, because he doesn’t know what else to say. and it’s the most natural feeling in the world to reach out to the young hero and wrap him in a hug.

he fits in jefferson’s arms like he’s always belonged there, and in a moment of clarity, jefferson feels everything click into place

“i watched fisk kill him, and i didn’t do anything,” sobs the child in his arms, the child that jefferson would recognize anywhere, in any life. “it’s my fault he died. i killed spiderman”

me, after a couple of minutes: to be clear, this is for a final fantasy 7 fanfiction scene where my character got really cold, the stakes aren’t high in getting this completely right.
