This is the exact same reason why James, Sirius and Remus are shipped with each other (starbucks, wolfstar, wolfstarbucks) and Peter is never involved in any ship with them because he is not “attractive”

I’ve seen fics with Peter involved. Actually there’s a whole series of fics I’ve read where Sirius is on the ace spectrum and isn’t really into sex but Remus is hypersexual and has had a thing with Peter in the past…they are out there.

This is reaching for injustice if you ask me. Ppl don’t write many fics about Crabbe and Goyle because they were portrayed as being extremely dumb. As readers, we like the main characters of the stories we read to be intelligent, interesting, witty, sarcastic, dorky, and/or inherently good. Anything that’s unique actually. Crabbe, Goyle, and Peter are none of those things. That’s why there aren’t many fics that feature them. Pansy on the other hand is interesting bc she’s clearly smart, raised in a similar fashion to Draco, and is the only canon female Slytherin we know anything about. Also, there is so little known about her that people can create her personality as they choose. All of this is irrelevant though bc at the end of the day if you go to any fic site and search their names you will generate very little results. And the few results you get will have very few views. Fic writers make no money. The only payment they get is the reward of creating a good piece and good feedback. Therefore, they are most likely only going to write the things they are passionate about or what their fans are passionate about… that ain’t Crabbe, Goyle, or Peter in most cases. Not because they aren’t attractive, but because they are boring. Stop trying to make everything about looks or vanity. Snape is often described as being unattractive and there are thousands of fics about him (snary, snily, snarmione, snaco.) Also Fleur is described as the most attractive character in the series and there are hardly any fics featuring her for the same reason, she isn’t that interesting of a character. Can we just try to enjoy life w/o searching for an injustice in everything?

I strongly disagree with your reason about why no one writes about Peter. The reason I don’t focus on Peter is because it’s difficult. When writing him in a scene, all I can think about is him betraying his friends. So it’s hard to write him all nice and friendly, knowing that in the end he stabs them all in the back. It’s got absolutely nothing to do with ‘fat-shaming’.

Yet no one has trouble writing other characters who have done terrible things? Draco? Pansy? Snape? Bellatrix? Voldemort?

I’m talking about me personally. I’m not going to talk on behalf of others, they may or may not have their own reasons for not writing about Peter. I only write Marauder Era (that interests me most) and so far I haven’t included Snape.

I only write marauders also, but I include everyone and everything. I’m not saying that everyone’s reasoning is the same, but the reason Peter isn’t as popular as other characters who did bad things is largely because he isn’t attractive. It may not be a conscious thing on everyone’s mind when they don’t write him, but it’s a factor.

Oh I understand now. The way you worded it at first sounded like you were saying that everyone who doesn’t write Peter are fat shaming him, and I felt the need to speak up. Thanks for explaining.

im prob late to this, but anyway. saying that alot of ppl fat shame peter is pretty nasty. i really dont agree with that. maybe a small minority of people, but to say that the reason he’s unpopular is cos he isnt attractive is a big accusation. peter isnt exactly my favorite character cos of what he did, not cos of how he looks. kudos for saying sumthing hogwarts. immediate follow for you

The reason we talk about unattractiveness is when Peter is included in aesthetics and stuff he always has a chiseled jaw, perfect cheekbones, he is NEVER what he is described to be in the books. We are not saying everyone doesnt like him becayse he is not attractive but if someone like Tom Riddle can be talked about like a normal human being after murdering I don’t know how many people, Peter should be given the same chance and when we know Tom is attractive and Peter isn’t (canonically) one assumes it’s a factor. Everyone says they don’t include Peter because he betrayed his friends and I get that but if you can write about other characters the way you do what makes Peter so much more despicable? Don’t tell me the fact that he was their friend because people ignore that and then use that argument as to why they don’t like Peter. If he was their friend that makes the betrayal worse and that’s something Tara and I have been trying to show for many months now. So if he was their friend why is he not included in the Marauders Era narrative? If knowing how he will end up disturbs them, why doesn’t how some characters were doesn’t disturb them? I don’t want to say it’s everyone who does this but seeing what I saw and reading what I read if Peter was more attractive, I believe there would be more inclusion and this is my opinion and no one has to agree with it. I just wanted to clarify after reading your tags.
