Hello! Call me Sage! I go by they/them pronouns, and am in my late 20s! I've been lurking for a good long while, and have been promising an intro post for a looong time (what do you mean 2023 was 2 years ago?!), so here it is!
You'll find this blog as a sort of a repository of reblogged whump tropes and prompts, as well as my writing! I have a wide range of likes when it comes to whump, though I strongly prefer whumperless whump to having a whumper! I do dabble on occasion, though, especially in certain AUs for my OCs. And boy, do I have a lot of AUs.
As far as favourite whump tropes go, I love characters fainting/collapsing, the "hidden injury" trope, and so so much the "moment of awakening" trope—when a whumpee finally wakes up from unconsciousness and is super out of it. And, of course, more, but we can't be here all day 😂 I generally write/reblog a pretty wide variety of stuff!

Shaoyuan Nie (he/him): Introduction here!
Shaoquan Nie (any pronouns): Twin sibling to Shaoyuan, and the Abel to his Cain. A silvertongue smooth-talker with a careful eye for detail, and such a sharp insight into the thoughts of others that you'd think they're able to read minds (and in some AUs they do). They much prefer words over weapons, though one could say that words are their weapons, and they're a master of using them to devastating effect. They strongly believe that violence is unnecessary, and murder even more so.
Aristides de Silva (he/him): A mafia leader that inherited a dying empire from his father, who is determined to build it up to something worth inheriting. An enigmatic man whose mind seems to work in inscrutable ways, even to the ones who know him best. If life is a game of chess, then at any given moment, Aristides is thinking ten steps of the people around him. Catching him by surprise is a difficult task; he always seems to know more than he ought to. In most AUs, he's the father of three young children: his son, Demophon, and twin daughters, Delfina and Desideria.
Celestinus Cheng (he/him): A doctor who was born an outsider to the criminal underworld, but was pulled in after associations with Aristides. Since then, he's become Aristides' trusted right hand and advisor, as well as the de facto medical professional for members of his gang. Despite his constant air of exasperated frustration, his bark is far worse than his bite, and his heart is too big for his own good. No matter ally or enemy, he can't stand to watch and do nothing when someone is suffering or hurt.
Anne (she/her): An independent arcane researcher, and a member of the circle of "angels" that have descended to bestow magic upon the humans in Hell Is Another Word For Home. With her cheerfully heartless demeanour, however, one might be forgiven for thinking of her as a demon. Her first and only love is her research, to which her heart belongs—but, she has a special place in her heart for those who inspire her curiosity.

When Aristides secretly buys out Shaoyuan's contract from the management agency that owns him, Celestinus isn't too convinced that this traitorous assassin, who has wiped out two whole "family businesses," can be trusted. Through time, effort, and the judicious application of precise headshots, he finds otherwise.

Whumpee who genuinely believes that theyre property or sub-human or that they deserve it or that whumper's right. Whumpee that sees no point in struggling because they've learned what kind of situation they are in. Whumpee who wants to be compliant and obedient but can't bring themself to achieve the impossible results whumper wants from them. Whumpee who has complicated feelings about their position and doesn't try to run or anything but, even if theyll still obey at the end of the day, have an attitude that can't just easily be surpassed. Whumpee who is trying to redeem themselves for a percieved fault. Whumpee who doesn't like this but doesn't recognize it. Whumpee who doesn't like it but does recognize the feeling. They think theyre in the wrong for feeling the dread. Whumpee who sees it as justified because, okay—they really were pushing it with that attitude, weren't they? This wouldn't happen if they'd just try harder. They'll just be better next time. It's not whumper's fault, really; that's just how things work. Whumpee is the one in the wrong. Whumpee who needs to endure this for the sake of something else. Whumpee who is in this due to self-sacrifice and need to force themselves to comply. Whumpee to whom this has always been everything that's ever been. Whumpee who thinks it's all unfair but can't actually bring themselves to do something about it, who thinks this is the only way things can even be, for them. Do you see the vision.
See I think that the thing that makes this so endearing to me is that it's usually so counterproductive. If someone is hurting you, you're not gonna like it. You want it to stop and as an agent with free will and a sense of survival you Don't want your autonomy to get overriden because that's invasive and dangerous. So to just...not do that? Obviously everybody's primary responses wildly differ and what I'm saying does not aply to everyone or every whumpee but just the mental image of baring your neck to the thing that's Going To Hurt You either out of hope they won't bite so hard or because you need it to be you rather than someone else is So Juicy. Defiance requires a lot of will and determination but to be compliant you also need some incredible self-restraint (especially when you would rather not be compliant but are being pushed by your circumstances or long-term goals) and it drives me. Insane.
On the other hand, sometimes it's just like... literally what else can you even do. You are at the mercy of someone else, someone who's mood dictates your very safety. You're helping them, sure, but you're helping them to help yourself. Compliance is your shield. You follow their rules, you play their game, you bow when you're told to bow and you won't have to be beaten or starved for not complying. It might make your stomach turn or your throat clench but it's better than having a knife plunged onto it.
Likee. They can't escape all of it, not really, not even if they play nice, because they're going to make mistakes and sometimes they're whumper is simply a sadistic fuck. But just... a whumpee who would rather bend than break. It's everything. To me.

an underrated form of whumperless whump imo is accidental self injury—whumpee trips down the stairs or cuts themself cooking or otherwise has what should be an embarrassing but not dangerous accident. but whumpee's unlucky, and they cut too deep for a bandaid or they give themself a concussion, maybe even a broken bone, anything that needs immediate attention.

Q: Where can I find the prompts list?

Q: How are the prompts divided?
A: Each day has a "title" or a vague theme, followed by two tropes and one dialogue prompt.
Q: Can I use the title as a prompt?
A: Absolutely.
Q: Do I have to use all of the prompts?
A: Not at all.
Q: Can I use all the prompts?
A: Absolutely.
Q: If I'm writing a chronological story, can I swap days to fit the timeline?
A: Yes, just make sure you tag your days and prompts appropriately. If you're writing for day 6, but you post it on day 12, tag day 6, not day 12.
Q: Can I have early or late entries?
A: Yes. This is a very laid back event, and meant mainly to inspire lots of whumperless whump. It's not a strict writing challenge.
Q: Is there an Ao3 collection?
A: Yes! This year's collection is linked here. The parent collection also includes 2024 and 2025--make sure you select 2026.
Q: Can I write [insert anything here]?
A: Yes. However, this blog will not reblog certain topics (ex. nsfw or suicide), so please tag your works appropriately, so anyone can filter out anything they don't want to see.
Q: Can I use AI?
A: No.
Q: Can a whumper be included in the prompt fill?
A: The short answer is no. The long answer is that you cannot have the role of whumper in your prompt fill (aka: no whumper-on-whumpee); however, if the character you want to be a whumpee or a caretaker happens to be a whumper, then as long as they are not fulfilling the role of whumper, it's fine. Also, if there is a whumper, it must be totally impersonal and faceless. Here are some examples for clarification:
A character's drink is spiked at a party.
OKAY: The whumper who spiked the drink is never mentioned and is completely faceless, and the story is directly about whumpee recovering.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper who spiked the drink kidnaps the whumpee.
A character is left alone in a storm.
OKAY: The character is stranded or lost.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: Whumper tied them to a post and left them in the storm.
A character is mugged on the street.
OKAY: The whumper is a stranger, faceless, and the focus is on Whumpee.
NOT WHUMPERLESS: The whumper is a stalker and there to kidnap Whumpee.
All in all, if your goal is to fulfill the event, then try to avoid a whumper. If you're using the prompts elsewhere, then ignore this, but in the spirit of the event, no whumper roles please.
Q: How do I tag my posts?
A: Tag with #whumperless whump event, #wwevent 2026 and #wwevent day [x](Don't just tag wwe, that's wresting.) Make sure to tag the fill type (art, fic, music, etc) with #fic, #art, #et cetera. Then, tag triggers and content warnings. Please put these first in the tag order! It just makes it easier to reblog.

A: Mention this blog in your post! It's the easiest way for me to find you. Otherwise, I won't reblog it. (This also means if you do not want your post reblogged to the event, just don't mention the blog, and it'll stay private.)

Sometimes another person is involved, but the truly talented whumpee can do it all on their own:
Falling out of a tree. Leads to broken bones, bruises from hitting other branches, and concussions
Food poisoning. Enough said.
Ice over a lake cracking. Full submersion leads to hypothermia. Or just a foot in the water leads to a bad case of frostbite
Animal bites. The ragged edges are hard to sew up leading to scarring. They get infected so easily, leading to fever and a long slow recovery
Snake bites. The properties of snake venom vary depending on the snake’s usual prey and predators. This means they offer a wide variety of symptoms to whump your characters with
Spider bites. See above.
Car accident. So many options. Bruising, internal bleeding, broken bones, bloody nose, whiplash, trauma, etc.
Being thrown from a horse. The old-school version of a car accident
Can't stop thinking about unconscious whumpee waking up in the middle of being cared for.
The initial realization from carer (or carers) that whumpee is gaining consciousness. "They're coming around" (maybe said with relief, or with quietly uttered curses because whumpee being awake will only make things more complicated at this moment) and "Hey, Whumpee, you with me?" and "You're safe, I've got you."
Whumpee coming to, confused and hurting, while carer struggles to keep them calm so they don't injure themself further. Maybe whumpee is too out of it to remember anything after the fact, but their screams, the pleas and begging, are something carer won't soon forget. Or maybe whumpee remembers every second of it, and afterwards has to face carer knowing that carer has seen them at their most vulnerable.
