horse bridle made from watsonia leaves by Hannah Thornhill
“Lesbians love lesbians, so some lesbian energy and focus is not accessible to men. But how is this manhating? After all, heterosexual men are not considered manhaters nor heterosexual women, womenhaters. So why are lesbians as a group perceived as manhaters? To hate someone is to direct energy toward them, albeit negative energy, to maintain an aggressive connection. So how is lesbian denial of energy to men such an aggression? When is a withdrawal an attack? A withdrawal of something is an attack on someone only if that which is withdrawn is considered essential to that person’s health, well-being, or survival. Thus if I gathered men in a room and withdrew air from that room, my withdrawal would be considered an attack. Or again, if I withheld food from men, my actions would be an attack. The lesbian withdrawal of energy from men must, therefore, be considered an attack because the fathers regard female energy as vital to men’s health, well-being, survival. And such energy is apparently so vital to men that women are not to be allowed to realize there are other than heterosexual ways of being in the world. When actual lesbians insist on being perceived, when we can no longer be ignored, we are used to scare women into line, lest they become monsters like us.”

physically, in modern day design, children are recognised as not merely “small adults”. designs take into consideration their softer skulls, pseudo-kneecaps, extra bones, underdeveloped immunity system, different ways of processing food and even breathing. not to mention obvious proportional differences.
even when proportion is less of an issue, pre-pubescent and older minors have physical differences taken into consideration - different organ processes, skin issues, lack of strength, and different sleep and nutritional needs.
further, design for the elderly is massive - fragility, muscle weakness, lack of dexterity etc.
all this but still, medical, safety, and health equipment and advice for women is just designed for “small men”. next to no consideration is given to the differences between women and men unless it directly involves reproductive organs.
you may think many of the above are obvious differences, but are women having breasts not also an obvious difference? because regardless, in car design and CPR dummies, breasts are entirely forgotten about. teaching CPR for children is absolutely standard, but for women (50% of the population, mind you) is rare. children have special seats in the car, or may not be allowed in the front seat for safety reasons, but seat belts aren’t designed with women’s breasts in mind, resulting in women dying in more car accidents.
as a child, i was told endlessly that i needed more sleep than adults. I was never told that adult women need more sleep than men. i was told endlessly how children need extra calcium and vitamin D. I was never told women need nearly twice the iron intake as men.
women’s bodies make up half the population and every single new human life is dependant on them. It’s absurd that male bodies are always the priority when women are literally the only reason humanity can CONTINUE. it is absurd and borderline self-sacrificing for society to continue neglecting women’s health and physical differences.

there's something to be said about the horror and violence of the family unit becoming more emphatic the deeper you assimilate into it, as one who wasn't inherently (blood-related) a part of it (utena and nanami).
'For example, the shape we call a heart - whose symmetry resembles the vulva far more than the asymmetry of the organ that shares its name - is probably a residual female genital symbol. It was reduced from power to romance by centuries of male dominance'

‘The Ghetto Tarot’: Haitian artists transform classic tarot deck into stunning real life scenes:
Welcome to the Ghetto Tarot, a project from award-winning documentary photographer Alice Smeets and a group of Haitian artists known as Atis Rezistans. The idea was to take the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck of 78 cards and create a photographic version of each card using settings and objects in the vibrant ghetto of Haiti.
As Smeets says, “The spirit of the Ghetto Tarot project is the inspiration to turn negative into positive while playing. The group of artists ‘Atiz Rezistans’ use trash to create art with their own visions that are a reflection of the beauty they see hidden within the waste. They are claiming the word ‘Ghetto,’ thus freeing themselves of its depreciating undertone and turning it into something beautiful.”

I'm rewatching utena and I noticed one thing in episode 9. While Utena and Saionji are arguing towards the beginning of the episode, Saionji saying that next time they duel he will beat her and win Anthy back, Chu-chu is seen fighting with a frog. Now, Chu-chu is supposed to be a monkey I believe, though due to his size one could argue he looks a tiny bit like a mouse. And this is important because of an epic that was written, supposedly, as a parody of the Iliad during the classical period. This parody, the Batrachomyomachia, is the tale of a one-day war between mice and frogs, and the term is used nowadays to refer to "a useless, trivial fight". And what's more trivial, useless, hopeless, than fighting for the Rose Bride? What fight is more devoid of consequence and meaning, than one that exists within a cycle of abuse in which everyone, whether loser or winner, is harmed?
