listening to the same playlist at work is getting to be too much of the same sensory, and podcasts make me laugh too much, or if I'm not paying attention I get lost lmao
i've never really listened to audiobooks though, and I love reading so I'm gonna just try to listen to audiobooks of books i'm already really familiar with, so if i miss stuff it's nbd, but what i don't miss will be entertaining
can't listen to podcasts to work cause if they say something funny i look like some kind of freak while i'm trying to keep myself from laughing out loud while scanning someone's purchases lmao

my grandma got married very young, and she was in an abusive marriage or over 40 years when my grandpa passed away. Over the last 10 years it's like she's become a different person. she just makes you smile when you see her because of how happy her entire aura is now that she's free and she can live her life without being constantly criticized. i hope that someday i can think that about myself the further away i get from the people that hurt me
there was a fairy ring outside on my second morning here, and tbh it does feel like i've been transported into a different world that isn't so angry
like?? this is literally the cutest my bed has ever looked in my life??? it all matches and it's so pink!!
i hope i don't come off as like bragging or something, but i am just genuinely so happy. i put that blanket in the washing machine and i've just been all quietly happy crying about it. I think that this is probably the most birthday gifts i've gotten in a loooong time and it's all stuff that is immediately helpful and immediately improving my quality of life.
two new blankets/comforters, new sheets and pillow cases, a rice cooker and an electric kettle <3
i've never really felt like i was all that special or like anyone even really noticed my existence very much, but the more i've been able to come out of my shell, the more i'm seeing how much of a people person i can be, when the people aren't mean. i'm just really thankful. and i am putting all the good feelings out there for everyone who sent me anything. you're all angelic

honestly i'm just thankful for this space. knowing that there are so many other adults that face similar struggles, and have similar outlooks and just want to have peace and happiness and don't know how to do that in this kind of chaos and loud
knowing people like me exist that i haven't met because, like me, they don't like to go out and be seen. there are people who love colors and glitter and silly things and struggle with the concept of "growing up" and there are people who are traumatized and afraid of the world (i love you), and there are people who share my traits that annoy people. and it makes me feel less alone when i think about how much i've been made to feel less than because of those things. when i felt like i must be the only weirdo in the world.
i'm so happy about all the other weirdos that this website has introduced me to. i'm happy that you all know that i exist in the world, being weird and happy and kind and encouraging all the other weirdos.
thank you for posting on here and sharing the things about you that are unique and special. thanks for sharing your talents and your art and your writing. thanks for making me feel like i'm not alone.
without this website idk if i'd have ever even considered being allowed to think critically of my identity and my gender. idk if i would have ever been proudly bisexual or if i would have shoved that part of me away.
i know if i didn't move out at 18. if i stayed in my small town, with my close-minded family. i wouldn't be who i am now. i don't even know if i'd be here now. so finding this site. finding other people like me has been such an important healing journey.
i'm learning to love the person i am, and people like you have helped me a lot with that.
it's not something i had really processed but until i got these blankets/sheets/pillowcases as a gift, i've been using the blankets and pillowcase that i brought up with me when i left my ex. one we thrifted when we got to kc, and one was secondhand from his brother. i won't get rid of those blankets because even though i shared them with my ex, i also shared them with my cats and my dogs and they will always mean more to me than anything else, even though they're no longer here with me. but it will be very good for my mental health i think to fold those blankets up and store them away in a bag for a while. i will always have my memories of the good times, and if i ever really need the comfort i'll be able to dig those blankets out, but having something so closely tied to my ex that i've used every night has been messing with me more than i think i realized.
moving on has felt impossible because my circumstances were worse than they'd been with him, but now it's finally feeling like i can put all that behind me because i'm not longing for when things were better (but still really bad). things are actually starting to get better than they were before they got so much worse.
i feel so weird and dumb being in my 30s and struggling so much and dealing with so much past trauma and realizing how much trauma there was that i just put away to deal with later and memories keep popping back up. i don't want to say i feel like a failure, because i'm getting better. i'm improving. so i haven't failed. i haven't given up, though i've been close. but i just feel like i'm in a different plane of existence than other people my age. like i'm in a separate world where there's more gravity or something and everything is a little harder than it seems to be for other people
i just got another of the comforter sets that was on my wishlist. i can't tell you how thankful i am for these gifts. i haven't really had much new stuff like that since i was a kid, and then it was never really my choice when it came to new bedding. it's probably something not a lot of people even consider, but when you've gone without for so long something like a bedding set that matches and that hasn't been owned by another family first is just a perfect gift. this is a bad year in a lot of ways, but thanks to the kindness from people here, it doesn't feel quite so hopeless on a personal level.
i hope everyone has their moments of small happiness sprinkled into the year. we all need it so bad. i hope that me sharing my happiness can at least spread some smiles around <3
I'm glad you're alive. It's hard right now. We could use your kindness and love.
