I’d die on the hill that “stranger danger” is a deeply unhelpful mentality to have. “Ooooh everyone is out to get me they’re all gonna perpetrate harm that’s actually more likely to come from someone I already know. I better never talk to anyone in my community who I don’t already know, just to be safe. I’m sure there are no other biases interwoven with this mentality” like oh my god human traffickers do not just randomly spawn in every parking lot. You don’t have to go solo hitchhiking across the country but you also don’t have to live in fear that every guy on the street is the knife man who’s gonna get you. Like have situational awareness, yeah. But most of the time the guy on the street is not knife man he’s actually just a guy on the street and he’s probably pretty chill, and you’re driving yourself crazy by living in a constant state of unnecessary fear.

Like always safety comes first, especially if you’re in a marginalized group more likely to be targeted by random people around you. But that’s different from stranger danger. I might even say that stranger danger is something that contributes to marginalized groups getting targeted by random people. Which strangers do you find distrust worthy? Why? Does vague distrust justify harmful actions in the name of self defense? Stranger danger draws everyone away from more important issues of safety (underlying bigotries, systemic injustices, abuse in the home, etc) and towards an amorphous boogeyman that has no solution, because it’s not the real cause or culprit.

i also think the fact that after turnabout samurai will powers and phoenix kinda become friends is a source of significant torture to edgeworth even after edgeworth gets normal* because phoenix doesn't even appreciate what he's got. like will powers calls phoenix up to invite him to nice events, no you don't understand, the Steel Actual Samurai is Calling Phoenix Wright (His Lawyer), First, to Invite Him. to things. and phoenix is just like huh, he's social i guess. the steel actual fucking samurai. guess ill go to the premiere of the new 2 steel 2 samurai movie. with the steel actual real fucking legitimate samurai who called me first. don't have anything else to do. edgeworth is 99% sure will powers has a small crush on phoenix and phoenix does not even notice. he's just like yeah that will powers guy is friendly huh? i don't think he's got many friends if he's inviting his lawyer to stuff. and edgeworth is steaming jealous. and phoenix is like you wanna come? edgeworth is like I do not think I am welcome. phoenix is like sure you are, will likes you. edgeworth is like I Am Sure Your Dear Friend With Whom You Are On A First Name Basis (The Steel Samurai) Recalls The Time I Tried To Get Him (Steel Samurai) Convicted And Sentenced To Death. phoenix is like well he asks about you all the time. and edgeworth is like He Is Just Being Polite (He Is The Steel Samurai). okay so spock (the alien in blue) essentially goes into heat. like literal heat like an animal. Anyway, spock’s in bloodlust in this episode and must go back to vulcan to have sex with his finace (or someone. but its supposed to be his fiance) or he’ll literally die. this is called pon farr and some backstory spock is half human and thought he wouldnt go through pon farr so he abandoned his HOT fiance to fuck around in space except oops pon farr happens so. he and kirk (in yellow getting his tits cut open, he’s also spocks captain and best friend) and their other friend mccoy go to vulcan so he can have sex with his fiance or get married or whatever so he doesn’t die. but then spock’s fiance (t’pring) is like no i dont want to marry spock i want to have him fight someone to death (which she can do) and spock at this point is fully in the ‘blood lust’ and is basically not in his right mind and doesnt get what’s happening. and t’pring picks kirk to be her ‘champion’ in the fight (her logic is that if spock dies in the fight she doesnt have to marry him and if kirk dies, spock will be so upset with her he won’t marry her anymore anyway). anyway kirk doesnt know that its a fight to the death and so he’s like of course i’ll do this fight if it’ll help spock and then he gets told it’s a fight to the death and he goes WHAT and right afterwards spock slices his titties open like in the gif. also eventually spock and kirk roll around in the sand and kirk fakes his death and THIS somehow knocks spock out of his blood lust and he goes back to the ship super sad bc he’s killed his ‘best friend’ only to discover kirk’s alive and we see one of his biggest smiles of the series (a big deal bc spock is vulcan and they dont show emotion). anyway this aired as the season opener in 1967. know your history and all that happy pride
