From βThe Miracle Maker: The Story of Jesus.β
I watched it for the Easter weekend when I was a little girl. Now, as I keep watching it for every Easter, I still love it. It is such a good movie, with great stop-motion animation and interesting 2D animated sequences.
The movie was companied by S4C - the same television program from Wales who did βShakespeare: The Animated Seriesβ and βTestament: The Bible in Animationβ (for similar stop-motion and 2D animation, along with BBC.
Surprisingly, each director of Miracle Maker actually did the previous series because of the similar animation from S4C:
1. Derek W. Hayes - the director of βTestament: The Bible of Animationβ (in 2 episodes)
2. Stanislav Sokolov - the director of βShakespeare: The Animated Seriesβ (in 2 episodes)
Also, Ralph Fiennes was the voice of Jesus in βMiracle Maker,β which it was surprising. After all, Fiennes had been well-known for voicing animated characters, along with Voldemort from Harry Potter films: Ramses from βThe Prince of Egypt,β Victor Quagmire from βWallace and Grommit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit,β The Moon King from βKubo and the Two Strings,β and even Alfred from βThe Lego Batman Movie.βΒ
If you love stop-motion animation, go and see this movie - it has great meaning of divinity and humanity, while Fiennes did a good job for voicing Jesus. ^w^

Eat them pills pilly
Dancing in the Bronx
I was on my way home, riding the 1 train. All the way up. It starts to thin out around the 130s. A tallish and very skinny young hispanic man is tapping his feet listening to music on his headphones. Not much to notice.
Around the 150s and 60s, he begins moving to the music. He's got some room now, so there is some serious swaying. Touchingly funny, but still nothing worth planting into long term memory. He starts to sing along to the music as well, although just barely audible.
Something snaps around 181st street, and he decides this is his time to shine. Within just a few blocks he turns into a one man show, as his barely audible voice turns into a crashing spanish crescendo, wooing me and the 6 or 7 other people on the train. The touchingly subtle subway dance has transformed into a salsa demonstration, torso and limbs swooshing with average to slightly above average rhythm (its hard to judge, we couldn't hear the powerful music that presumably was pouring into his ears).
Some tough dudes are trying not to think this is great, but they do. A couple of girls sitting next to me are act like they love it and they do. I love it too. The train stops at 231st street, and off he goes, dancing off the train and into the Bronx on a Thursday night. I can only hope the borough embraces him the same way our little train carriage did. Β

I don't usually post stuff like this, but this is pretty mesmerizing. It's strange how frantic the video shoot is, but how pristine the photos themselves are.
