Six of Crows is so fucking unserious and I'm only on Chapter 1
"Hi my name is Joost and these are my brothers Jan and Joop and we live in Ketterdam. I'm going to go smoke fantasy weed on this fantasy canal, ja? And maybe I'll cycle to fantasy Albert Heijn on Koning Willemstraat as I cry over our high rent prices"
Felt like I got punched in the face

six of crows au where everything is the same except the crows all have really thick stereotypical new york italian mafia accents
lockwood: i just want someone to take me out
lucy: like on a date or with a gun
lockwood: surprise me
Who let percy out again???
Lockwood, a boy who's private about his past: I need friends who are stable, who match me and my trauma.
Sees George, who got fired for asking to many questions and Lucy, who left her old life.
Lockwood: Yep, thats them. I want them.

he's listening to the static noise that plays in lockwood's head all the time
original inspo under cut
“Van Eck!” shouted Kaz. “Your son is on that ship.”
Van Eck’s gaze snapped to Kaz. He blew his whistle. The Tidemakers froze, awaiting instruction. Reluctantly, Van Eck dropped his hand. They let the wave fall harmlessly, the displaced sea sloshing against the side of the Ferolind.
“My son?” Van Eck said.
“Wylan Van Eck.”
Do you think van eck was afraid that kaz instead of referring to wylan was referring to his unborn child?
a fave headcanon of mine is jesper being the first person kaz is able to hug after jordie’s death, this is really important to me actually 😭😭😭
Holly Munro being fashionable is always canon and The Thing for me
pls like if you like this, said she not ai artist
currently crying while thinking about the dynamics of the two different love triangles in lockwood and co because lockwood/lucy/skull is like:
skull: I literally hate your man I'm going to kill him as soon as I get out of this stupid jar I'm going to snap him in half he will DIE do you understand. please lucy let me replace him I can be better than him lucy please
lockwood: lucy I don't trust the skull he's evil and bad and corrupting and a liar and evil. we gotta get rid of him. lucy get him out of here. stop talking to him all ghosts are evil. lucy please you're going to get yourself killed and I am an emotionally constipated 16 year old boy and I can't handle any of this. here's another family heirloom.
lucy: [seen 35 minutes ago]
and then holly/lucy/lockwood is just lockwood and holly braiding each others hair and giggling about how cool and pretty lucy is. they don't think of each other as competition so much as the president and vice president of the lucy carlyle fanclub. perpetual sleepover vibes at 35 portland row.
meanwhile lucy is seething with rage and trying to explode them with her mind
Ain't no one trying to steal Lockwood darling you can have him and it's not like he is going anywhere he literally worships the ground she walks upon
Lucy is the one everyone is trying to steal and honestly i don't blame them

I'm gonna ramble a bit about Inej again. Sit tight and bear with me for a few minutes.
But the argument that "Inej gave up so much and that Kaz didn't gave her much choice when he asked her to join the Dregs" really puzzles me the more I think about it.
From the very first moment when Kaz and Inej share their first actual conversation, Kaz makes his terms very clear. He tells her that the conditions of the Barrel are harsh and that she was expected to do things like killing to survive. I've seen some peoppe say that Inej didn't really have much of a choice because her only other option was staying at the Menagerie.
And I can get that, but it feels unfair to zero all the frustration on Kaz. At that time, realistically, there wasn't much Kaz himself could do about Inej's situation either. Because remember, the Kaz then is not the powerful and wealthy gang leader he is now. Then he was still working under Per Haskel and keeping a hold on the amount of money and valuables they spend. It took him a great deal of convincing to just transfer the ownership of Inej's contract. And even that took a great deal of cash. At that time, Kaz offered her the best he has capable of offering and made his terms clear. And Inej agreed to them.
And then there's the thing about Inej giving up so much and having to kill despite her moral beliefs. I do feel sorry for her, given everything she's been through and the cost it is to her religious beliefs. As a religious person myself, I get it. Completely.
However, it's important to remember that Inej isn't the only person who was forced to kill and hurt people to survive. This is something that applies to almost every member of the Dregs. I'm sure there was a point when none of them wanted to hurt people or take their lives. But even they eventually adapted to survive. (We don't talk about Kaz, his situation was different and a bit more extreme given his age at the time). But isolating the "giving up so much" exclusively on Inej feels dismissive for other characters.
Plus, its not like Inej did all that killing strictly for Kaz. A lot of it was for herself too. To protect herself.
Sorry for not focusing on the whole rambling but do people ACTUALLY have this argument? Do people think Kaz is an all powerful or something? The book couldn’t be more clear Kaz may get away with outdoing Per Haskell in many things but he is still not in control of everything, at least not at that point. Kaz didn’t give her much more of a choice because they weren’t plenty of choices, he gave what he could. And I am not saying he was this pure hearted person, he knew Inej was useful AND empathized with her, both can be true, specially considering he didn’t know her.
Sorry I am just repeating what you said but it shocks me that people have this simplistic takes, the book is not exactly subtle or puzzling for people to not notice it.
