No offense but my female ancestors didn’t go through centuries of oppression for me to feel bad about myself all the time

I used to be like that, I valued “passion” over everything else. And for some reason I thought passion involved difficulty. I was drawn to guys who didn’t want me, long distance relationships, exes, basically any factor that would make it hard or complicated because then it was exciting. But then it turns out to be 30% excitement and 70% heartache, and you’re constantly chasing the dragon. Here’s the thing: that excitement WILL die, eventually. In a good relationship or a bad one. It’s always fleeting. What matters is: what are you gonna be left with? Can you talk about hard stuff without fighting? Can you laugh and have fun together in any situation? Do you want the same things from life? Can they go out with their friends on a Fri night and not text you all night, and you won’t be sick to your stomach thinking they’re cheating? Do you believe the things they say? Does their happiness mean as much to you as your own (and vice versa)? These are the seemingly boring things that actual matter. Passion, chemistry, attraction, lust…they’re all great and important, but they will only get you so far. That foundation is everything.
